Wayne Winters @ Blue Yonder:

He's an excellent instructor and the Merlin is a really nice plane and easy to fly.

Red Arrow used to have a Citabria at Springbank, though they have disappeared a long time ago. The airplane CCK is still flying there, not sure who inherrited it, but I heard it was available again for training.

There are no flight training tail draggers in the YYC area. CCK, if I am thinking of the right airplane, is privately owned and that owner is doing his PPL on it right now.

I have done the digging before looking for instructors competent enough to perform this training and the list is very short, 3 instructors in total. There are a couple who say they are able but lack the experience/skill to safely complete the training. Don't except any instructor with less then 100 hours of tail dragger experience.

If you are serious, I can send you the names and phone numbers for the 3 instructors

Namao Flying Club just north of Edmonton had a Citabria available, and according to their website it looks like they still have it, although I haven't been there in a few years to verify for sure that they still have it.

Also, Prairie Bible College in Three Hills have 2 Citabrias (and you don't need to be doing their missionary course to get training - they do PPLs, ratings and other training for local pilots, so they can probably help you out if you don't mind the drive).

Anyone know someone in Victoria for the same purpose? Sorry for hijacking your thread, just didn't want to make an identical thread just about another location.
