Lesson Plans

Post by Highflyinpilot »

Just a quick question, I am going to be getting my instructor's rating in May and I would like to get an early start on my Lesson plans. The question is where is the best source to compile them, I'm thinkin the FTM and FGU, Are there any other books that would be handy. Another question is are there any books that are necessary to be bought in order to do the instructor rating, The flight school said there are 2 but I cant remember the name of them.

Thanks in advance.

Flight Instructor Guide (FIG) gives all the content Transport will look for in your book and ground briefings.

Human Factors books are good.

Illustrated guide to aerodynamics.

Must have all the required components in the FIG, but the FTM will give you info on the details.

IE - Ex 7 - FIG - Considerations of yaw. FTM - Yaw is caused in a climb by asymetric thrust. This occurs because.... yada yada yada

Speak to the class 1 who is doing your rating NOW. They should be giving you a sample lesson plan, and the PGI on how to write a lesson plan. Then have them review your first one or two to make sure they are acceptable before you go on to do them all.

I did a few hours of learning from the class 1, then took off for a few months to write them. Emailed them in as I finished each one, then they were emailed back with required / suggested changes.

You can get all the info you need from the FIG and FTM... "ground up" really wont be too much help to you, since most of that stuff is covered in the groundschool classes, and not your lesson plans.
