Float Ratings Near GTA?

Post by CAL »

Hey guys/gals looking to get a float rating sometime in the late summer and was wondering if it is possible to get one within an hour drive or so of the GTA as days are limited(presently working).
I know the requirement is only 7 hours which I feel is a bit low, but looking to maybe learn a bit more while doing it.
Any info greatly appreciated!

Try Huron Flight Centre in Sarnia 519-542-6599.

C-172 on floats, I know the pilot is a great instructor, they have a dormitory at the airport( rooms to rent ).

Lake Country Airways is in Orillia, so that meets your 1 hour drive requirement!

It also appears that you can rent the 172 after you're done which is a bonus.

A bit further away is Georgian Bay Airways

B.P Flight Training appears to offer a float rating, they're in Parry Sound

Just bringing these places to your attention, I have not done any training with them, I know nothing else about them!

I think Future air http://www.futureair.ca/flighttraining/seaplane.php still operates off the Holland river, this might be the closest to the GTA, though I highly recommend Lake Country airways out of Orillia, they now have 2 172's and a 185 available on floats.

Not anymore. They don't do floats at all now.
