Overtorque, my first suggestion is to practice better key strokes than what you rushed through in your post....
You know that saying " Garbage in garbage out " when keying nav computers it really will make a difference.
By the way Garmin has a computer program to learn those GPS / Nav receivers, and they do take a little understanding.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Cat, you must have better eyes than me. Hopefully you are not starting to become concerned with irrelevant minutia, like your buddies in power.
Wally, I agree with you too, but ask Cat's buddies if the Garmin training program is good enough for them to allow you to do stand alone approaches with a 704 operation.

Hey Guys;
I'll try to watch the strokes Cat! PS love your stuff on TC. Couldn't agree more with ya.
Anyways I'm not refering to ground training, refering to flight training. Wouldn't believe the hoops having to jump through to get this stuff up and running. I'd swear this is the first time someone gets a 530/430 installed in canada by the paper that I've had to send to the pink palace.
cheers

Overtorqued...
Yeh aviation has gone the wrong way since I started...one would think that as time passed and more modern aids were developed that it would get easier to learn and fly the equipment, but somehow this is going the opposite way...with each advance in technology the regulator seems to think that it is becomming more difficult to operate this stuff...
...Don't tell anyone about this O.K. ?...this will be a little secret between us, because I would not want TC to find out that I did this.
The first time I had the opportunity to use the Garmin 430 was in Portugal when we ferried an airplane from Portugal to France IFR...myself and a Qantas 474 check pilot read the Garmin book and played around with it during the test flights and had zero problems using the thing IFR...and we were never asked by Euro Control if we knew how to use the equipment...just lucky I guess...
Now remember , please don't let anyone else know that I was so careless and unprofessional.
