Air Transat pilot's answer please

I know that 4000 TT is the time I need to get selected but do they hire for less as well? I heard its an easy company to become a pilot for?
Does having a university degree help getting selected for Transat as a pilot or they emphasize more on hours flown. My main objective is Air Transat therefore I just want to know if im in the right path.

First of all, who said it's a company easy to work for??? We total just above 300 pilots at this time and most of us are well experienced. When I was hired, most from the street had around 5000 hours. Of course, the ones who used to be "Flight engineers" on the 1011, were hired with lower flight time, and of course the sons of some captains were hired with that much low time! But hey, would'nt you do the same thing for your kid when the time is right?... Anyway, it's not an easy place to work for because we are very selective, we only choose the best and most qualified. Most of the latest guys hired had more than 5000 hrs. Some was already captain on jets (Lear or Airbus). We had few exceptions (+/-5%) who was low timers.

Air Transat have a preference for bilingual pilots (english + french), but they also hire occasionnaly english only pilots. They don't hire french only pilots of course.

But if you are interested by Air Transat, send your resume as soon as you have your ATPL. You never know...

Over cuba, we don't speak french, but spanish. Several pilots at AT also speak spanish.

ya I know just its pretty obvious when you hear a french canadian checking in with Havana...or out over the atlantic and more often than not they sound french canadian...which is cool...was just making an observation...

Hey AirTransat guys!... how is it going?

I did some flying in Central America and never heard you guys speaking in spanish down there. Are there any latinos in Air Transat?... any "vatos locos"?
