Dany Heatley Petition
http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/heatley
Dany Heatley has demonstrated by his recent actions that he is not the type of person who deserves to repersent this great country at the olympics.
Dany Heatley should not be invited to the olympic hockey team camp.
He has not only insulted Ottawa Senators fans and Edmonton Oilers fans, he has aleinated and insulted all Canadian hockey fans.
Mr. Heatley has demsonstrated selfishness, disresepect to his emplyer, contempt for Edmonton and above all arrogance.
Olympic atheletes are hard working, respectful, honest people who sacrifice a lot to get where they are.
Allowing Mr. Heatley to repersent Canada undermines the whole ethic of Canadian olympic atheletes.

Re: Dany Heatley Petition
He's a professional athlete and therefore plays sports for money. Anything he can do to increase the value of his compensation is fair game.
Sacrifice is rowers on their $1500/month national carding allowance or pole-vaulters or any one of dozens of other sports without million dollar paycheques at the end of their races.Olympic atheletes are hard working, respectful, honest people who sacrifice a lot to get where they are
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

or the thousands and thousands of parents who get up at ungodly hours for years to take their moderately skilled kids with no chance of getting into pro sports to games and practices.
no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.

I'm an Ottawa fan (hold the laughter for a minute). They should say @#$! you! and then send him to the minors. I also can't understand how these guys can get away with signing a contract and then turn around and not honour there part of it, and still expect to get paid.

Send him to the minors... ahahahahaha. Good one. If guys like Avery can do what they've done and still play, what makes you think a player who is actually talented is going to get screwed.Cap'n P8 wrote:They should say @#$! you! and then send him to the minors
He won't be playing for Ottawa, but he will be playing. And why should he want to play for Ottawa... he probably just wants to be on a team with an actual fighting chance of winning the cup. If I could, I'd call Bob Gainey myself and beg him to take him. He's an amazing player and I hope he plays on our Olympic team as well. We'll have a better shot with him present.
Sign the petition all you guys/gals want, but my guess is he will be on our national team.
Oh, and BTW, he's already been invited to the camp.
Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

Re: Dany Heatley Petition
Well as long as he is still a Senator, the team can do whatever they want with him. It is his choice to keep declining trades and making it harder for Ottawa to move him. If they send him to the minors does it not take his salary off the cap? Given the fact that he is not happy because he lost a few minutes of playing time and went to the second unit on the power play. Maybe sending him down to Binghamton would get him to stop being so picky on who he gets traded for.
What an asshole.

Re: Dany Heatley Petition
Whether Dany Heatley goes anywhere near the Minors depends on his signed contract with the Senators. If there's no "Two-Way Clause" then he doesn't go to the Minors EVER and they either keep him, look for a trade or buy-out his remaining contract. So sorry, but you just don't send any player you want to the Minors. If he's got a "One-Way" only, then you're stuck with his ass in the NHL whether you like it or not. Heatley's got a "One-Way".
Hockey is about MONEY. What fool believes otherwise and where'd they get that crap from anyway? Of all the players drafted each year, few ever get to play in the NHL. Of those that do, an average of 2 of them get to play 5 years. Those stats are from the NHL League Offices and THAT'S why it's a great game to watch, but an ugly game otherwise. Always remember.......from the time you get drafted until the day you retire from the pros or the minors.........you are nothing more than a piece of meat. So take-off the rosy coloured glasses about professional hockey and 'ditch' that "eithics" crap.

Re: Dany Heatley Petition
First off, I didn't know whether he had a one-way or a two-way. If he's a one-way so be it. Second, I never mentioned anything about ethics. He signed a contract to play, period. If he doesn't play then he is in breach of the contract. I think after this debacle we're probably going to start seeing escape clauses built in to protect the teams from this type of shit.
Gee, professional sports is about money? Thanks for the update.

Re: Dany Heatley Petition
Clauses built into contracts to protect teams AND players are as old as the hills. If the Senators didn't have one with Heatley and their other players then they deserve everything that happens to them for their stupidity alone..........and they should immediately be searching for a new legal team to represent them from now on.
Once upon a time in professional hockey Dany Heatley's career would have ended the night he had hishorrendous accident, but all was forgiven and forgotten. A lot of very good players had their careers ended for much less than that, but somehow those days and that way of thinking are now gone. He should be damned happy he even has a pro career to play anywhere, never mind not living-up to a signed contractural agreement to do so. That's the way things SHOULD BE......not the way they ARE.
