New operator in Abbotsford?

Post by ahramin »

A friend of mine said she saw an ad in an Abbotsford newpaper on Saturday about an operator in Abbotsford looking for line pilots, a safety manager, and a couple other positions. Anyone know anything about this?

I have a copy of Saturday's Abbotsford News still here and there's nothing in there. There's also the Abbotsford Mission Times, but my wife has already purged that one.

Sorry, false alarm. I should have known as she's not a "details" person.

Funny you should mention them. I was just going to ask if anyone has details on this outift? The same friend wants to put her kid on a flight to Victoria so I thought I would research them a bit.

The airline's only plane is a newer model Hyper-Navaho; an eight-seat airbus that will be crewed by two pilots for each destination.

I like how they are telling the public that their 1978 airplane is a "newer model"

Wow, that article was a funny, but disturbing read. Maybe the longer I'm in this industry, the more sensitive I become to aviation talk, but did that article seem like it was just a load of crap or is just me? Maybe it was just the reporter, but it seemed heavily quoted. Is that how new small airlines try to lure customers nowadays?

I'd love to fly one of those "newer model 8pax airbuses with onboard weather modeling"

Hmm. If that is true then the kid will be flying Harbour Air from Langley, which according to these guys isn't possible as you have to drive all the way to Richmond to get a flight to the island . Anyone know the pay scale for the Captains? That would pretty much make up my mind right there.

Good lesson to be learned from the newspaper article though. If you are the guy giving the interview, you need to give the reporter all the details in writing for them to refer to later. They just can't get facts correct. Be careful what you say as it will be quoted out of context. Talk in one sentence bites.

Ever consider that maybe, just MAYBE the newspaper made a mistake....obviously no operator is going to fool anyone into believing its a new airplane.

Minor detail, but XM weather is not available in Canada. I wish it were.

Piper Navajo. They probably heard the name wrong. They probably said 'newer' model meaning 1981 rather than 1972.

I wonder if those mistakes were intentional as they are easily deniable. :smt040

Check again Mark. XM weather has been available in Canada for several months. It was available from day 1 with a US address.

Yup, what ahramin said. I'm currently asking for the xm input for our machine as well. Looking forward to its utility.

Back on topic, I did the training for the new CP of this operation (very competent individual), and liked the look of their machine. At the end of the day, however, it's still a 'ho doing a run on the coast. I wish them all the luck they will need.

Does anyone have a link to a website. Or a contact number?
What is their Schedule?
What is the cost per flight.

Might have a requirement for their services shortly.

I can't get Xm working here, at least not for METARS. It will work for NEXRAD but not for METARS. I am using a US address and it works fine when we're flying in the states. Any advice on this Ahramin?
