Your favorite quotes

Post by KAG »

lets hear the quotes left an impression.
I recently read this one and it made sense to me, in a non religious sort of way.

When the heavenly gods created human beings, they kept everlasting life for themselves and gave us death. So accept your fate.
Each day, wash your head, bathe your body, and wear clothes that are sparkling fresh. Fill your stomach with tasty food, play, sing, dance and be happy both day and night. Delight in the pleasures that your wife brings you, and cherish the little child that holds your hand. Make each and every day of your life a feast of rejoicing! This is the task that the gods have set before all human beings. This is the life you should seek, for this is the best life a mortal can hope to achieve”.
– The parting words of the fishwife Sidur to Gilgamesh.

All Leonardo da Vinci:

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

The only time you have too much fuel
is when you're on fire.

The only thing more useless than gas still
in the truck, runway behind you, or altitude
above you, is a field-grade navigator in
the right seat.

If you're young and right wing, you have
no heart. But if you're old and left wing,
you have no brains.

The cheque is in the mail.

I'll respect you in the morning.

The night wore on, cold and clear, without further alarms, and the Moon rose slowly amid equatorial constellations that no human eye would ever see. In the caves, between spells of fitful dozing and fearful waiting, were being born the nightmares of generations yet to be. - Arthur C. Clarke

It is true, that which I have revealed to you; there is no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It is all a dream - a grotesque and foolish dream. Nothing exists but you. And you are but a thought - a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities! - Mark Twain

Canadians want to benefit from the American nuclear umbrella but they don't want to hold unto the handle. To that extent, the knee-jerk anti-Americanism of some Canadians verges on hypocrisy. Pierre Elliot Trudeau.

Pierre Trudeau makes Judas Iscariot look like a team player. Bob Rae.

Sumer is icumen in, lhude sing cuccu. Geoffrey Chaucer
Winter is icumen in, lhude sing Goddam! Oscar Wilde.

Capitalism stands for the unequal sharing of blessings. Socialism stands for the equal sharing of misery. Sir Winston Churchill

There are two sizes to lambskin condoms, Wooly-Bully and Little bo Peep. Larry the Cable Guy.

To a fine soldier war is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made so and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
John Stuart Mill

Freedom of speech is an American concept, so I don't give it any value. Dean Stacey, Canadian Human Rights Commission member.

The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.

After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.
