Flying in Africa / Voyageur Airways

I hate to beat a dead horse here but...

I just got back to the states after a year of flying Caravans with AirServ International in Congo. I loved Congo and want to go back to Africa as soon as possible. Any recommendations on companies worth checking out? I know Voyaguer is over there and was planning on applying to them. Does anyone know if they still have a bond or if they've gotten any better? All the comments I found about VA were at least a year or more old.

Thanks

What do you want to fly?

Dash 7? Dash 8? RJ?

VA has all three there. Or did the last time I checked...

Their competition is Trans Capital Air. With only Dash 7's.

Last time I spoke to someone I could have sworn I heard 20K (CDN.....)

Funny how no one from VA is talking............

I really don't care what I fly - I'd take whatever is available (though I guess I'd prefer either the Dash 7 or Dash 8 ) , I just want to be back in Africa.

My main concern is the quality of the company and the bond. I've yet to find ANYTHING positive said about Voyageur

Thanks for mentioning Trans Capital Air. I hadn't heard of them but will check'em out.

Anyone else out there with info on Voyageur??? Or other Africa flying outfits?

Hey guys,
I have an interview coming up next month and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of questions they ask at the interview? Feel free to pm...
I did a search and I am aware of the bond and the schedule but couldn’t find anything regarding the interview.
Thanks!

Hate to bust your noodle but the last I heard, VAL is interviewing, but they have 0 (zero) positions available! There dedicated contract ended last month and pilot's were furloughed until the new year. They have call-back rights over new hires unfortunately. Good Luck!

Where did you get that info? Significant other is still in Africa right now... No words on loosing the contract and on furlough.

Dedicated Medevac contract in Ontario is where they furloughed pilots. Sorry I confused you!

Maybe if you read the title, you would have realized that this is about Overseas ops ;)

Wouldn't they send the medivac guys over to Africa, or does nobody want to go?

Which would then make Beach 200's post about overseas ops

All the medevac guys from what I understand wanted to go to Africa, and like I was saying there wasn't enough positions in Africa so some got furloughed!
So for those that have an interview, don't keep your hopes up!

If your layed off and time is up on your bond, you get your money back.

So what you're saying is that if you're furloughed and the time on your bond is not up yet, that if you go somewhere else, you lose the money? That is LAME!!!

That is not what I said.

I was interviewd by them a while back and they mentioned the bond. The lady from HR said VAL will live up to their end of the bond if there was a lay off, they would give it back. Nothing was brought up that if you go work somewhere else you would lose out.

From what I see reading on here those Medivac pilots who lost their domemstic jobs some will be in Africa, I bet their happy they kept a job and one that also pays pretty good.....Curious if they had to pay another bond....anyone know?

They were very thorough when answering my questions, and also when describing their overseas operation. Aside from their bond they look like a great company to work with overseas, and from what I have seen in my little expierence in Africa UN treats their contracted companies pretty well.

Could be Transcapital.........F/Os pay 24 000 and they DO NOT get their money back.

Thanks Cleveland, that's not how I had interpreted your previous post. Thanks for the clarification.
