Hang on a sec, isn't it illegal to ride in the back of a pickup truck? (Or not wear a seatbelt?)
Don't break the law, don't meet the RC's, and don't get pepper sprayed..

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Not sure of the law in other provinces but here you can ride in the box of a truck as long as all the seatbelts are already in use by other passengers.North Shore wrote:Hang on a sec, isn't it illegal to ride in the back of a pickup truck? (Or not wear a seatbelt?)

Sechelt was one of the first towns in B.C to give out free crack pipes to reduce the spread of disease

The parents make a big fuss over the kids safety after the fact but when trouble was going down they didn't care enough to remove the baby from the situation before it boiled over.
If that was my kid I wouldn't have started trouble, and if it did start I'd get them out ASAP. Isn't your main job as a parent to keep your kids safe, not start fights with your kids in the middle?

Re: RCMP pepper spray 6 month-old
Ummm lets see, cop pulls you over, you have your wife and baby in the car (lets ignore all the others) do you get out of your car and confront the cop? does your wife get out also leaving the baby inside, or maybe takes the baby out with her. The two of you start fighting and arguing with the cop. Cop pepper sprays you and/or your wife, the baby also gets hit. Who is to blame for the baby being in that position, the cop or the parents?cpl_atc wrote:Uh, hold on a minute. Where is it suggested that there was time for the parents to realize that pepper spray was going to be used on a non-violent, unarmed crowd? That's the whole point Lurch.
I don't know any parent who would knowingly put their 6 month old in the path of a blast of pepper spray. Do you? So I wouldn't be so quick to blame the parents.
As usual, the RCMP chose to use inappropriate force because they are cowards and they are unaccountable.
We all know you're anti-cop but sometimes the "victim" isn't so innocent and deserves exactly what they get.
Unfortunately this time the irresponsible parents put their baby in harms way and were more concerned with themselves instead of their baby, until the media showed up of course.

Well, I know that infant and this is not the first time it's pulled a stunt like that. That baby is trouble! Last time they put him in 9 months of solitary!
I remember when this story happened, it was actually a couple of years ago. Somebody in an Anti-RCMP mood going through the old archives?

Babies are weapons of mass doodoo.
The RCMP was protecting the public from WMD's.
The RCMP was doing their job.
The RCMP are protecting you from common sense, responsibility, and head chopping idiots that take the bus.

You don't think the parents could have created their own story here?altiplano wrote:Way to create your own version of the story and throw in some of your own "facts", Lurch. Do you work for the RCMP? You'd fit in great!
The Staff Sergeant interviewed described the 2 children under 2 and other children as "victims". Is that what they deserved?Lurch wrote:sometimes the "victim" isn't so innocent and deserves exactly what they get.

Re: RCMP pepper spray 6 month-old
This incident is years old. The Sechelt band uses the RCMP for policing on the reserve. The cops tried stopping a pick-up being driven recklessly with a bunch of people standing and cheering in the back in celebration (kids soccer game win or something). When they stopped the truck they were quickly surrounded and besieged by a mob, sprayed some OC about the area to disperse the crowd and made their escape. Some kids, including a baby, who were part of the mob were effected by the OC. As best I recall, the RCMP and community members had some meetings, cops apologized for over-reacting, band apologized for the behaviour of some of their members, and life carried on.
