Northern Thunderbird Air
Hi I was wondering if anyone had any information about Northern Thunderbird Air? details like minimums for hiring, the pay, benefits. Also if anyone has any experience with this company I would like to hear about your experiences. Do they hire young pilots with low hours? or are they mainly a 1500hr and beyond company?
Thanks.
Thanks.

To the general public on this forum (for those curious), very good company to work for. Excellent management, machines and maintenance. Great group of people and some cool flying is involved, especially in the summer. Safety is emphasized in the company and employees are kept happy (from what I know). Upgrades occur as frequently as needed, and overall is a good company to spend more than a couple of years at. One of the better commuter companies in Canada for sure.

Did you use to work there or something? I guess there's always one unhappy camper at every company...
Re: Northern Thunderbird Air
If safety is a priority, I would like to know how they land a 1900 at CAD3 (Wolverine) with more than 9 pax (704).

ILS09,
Edited. Pretty hurting to sit there and bash NT Air pilots. there are some stand up people working there and I am sure they don't appreciate it!

Reason: I assume that was a reference to private information that could "out" someone. Not allowed.

Not bashing the pilots whatsoever.... The pilots are second to none and a fantastic group of individuals and I never hesitate to tell anybody that.

I'm not too sure where this information is coming from, but I can tell you first hand that pilots here are treated well if you work hard and don't come with any poor attitudes. I've worked at companies that treat their employees far worse, even those with good work ethics. This place is a great place to get good flying experience and fly with some awesome people. GM, Ops manager and Chief Pilot are all awesome guys who you can have a beer and a good conversation with.
Is it the perfect company? You tell me what company is. Nothing and no one will ever be perfect. Is it a good company? I think so, and I wouldn't hesitate to say yes. I can't speak for everyone but I have yet to fly with a pissed off pilot. Compared to my last job, I work about 1/2 as much and make a decent amount more. Everyone's opinion will be different.

Agreed, everyone's opinion will be different. Once again I strongly disagree.
To answer your question, yes I used to work there. The pilot group are great folk, save one or two who have hopefully moved on to something else. Mostly, and I know I'm not alone here, it's a person behind one desk in Vancouver. The staff in PG are a good bunch in my experience.

I also want to know how they operate a 1900C in and out of WOLVERINE LAKE (CAD3) as a 704 machine that is 50% hard pack snow, 50% 1" snow downhill with a tail wind and can make those numbers LEGAL!
