Dr. Lower's hours

Post by El Comat »

Does Dr. Lower still practice from his Bay St. office on Mon-Wed-Fri? Need to make my annual pilgrimage back to YQT for some Hoito pancakes and a medical.

Thanks!

Ahhh yes Dr Lower.. Someone once told me that he did about %95 of the medicals done in NW Ont. I always thought it was a bit of an exaggeration, but after meeting sooo many guys/gals that have used his services over the years, I'm starting to think it may be close to the truth!!

If it has been awhile since you were there, Dr Lower moved across teh street from his old office a few years back.

Can anyone confirm Bede's post? He's not available Fridays in either Thunder Bay or Kakabeka?

Thats what I was wondering?? I got my 1st medical from him as well back in 1992 and he had to be pushin 75 then!?? Last time I blew through KB Falls, his office was looking kinda "closed"?.. Either way, its pretty cool to hear he is still at it! I asked him at my last medical by him in 95 how much longer?.. and he said until he drops. I guess he meant it. Keep up the great work Dr. Lower!! MANY of us appreciate your kind ways.

He is a great doc, and kind toward poor pilots. I got a medical done there in 2003 and when it came time to pay he said don't bother, I know it must be tough making ends meet on an f/o's salary. Nearly brings a tear to my eye just thinking about that.

Keep in mind Transport reads these forums and hastles him quite frequently. He does what is required of him ... and gets the respect of the industry by doing so. He charges less than most doctors. Leave it at that:)

Fantastic guy though

a true gentelman , got his medical license in 1954 it hangs proudly in his office. 3yrs ago I aked him when he was going to retire ,as i said you must be in your 70's like my dad . his reply was " that was a good decade "

so doing the math say age approx 25-27 when he got his medical license
+ 56yrs practising = 81to 85 still going strong.

in may asked him again his reply , he'd out live most of us pilots with our fast food lifestyle. he still has the passion to do his job well, as most of us do for flying in our 20's.

personally I ve never met any doc that on the 31 of dec (new years eve )
in a couple of hrs your able to walk in, fill out the form, be done in an hour with ecg . many new doc's could learn volumes of how to run a sucessful gp practice with such humility and warmth.

all should be ready on a short notice to throw him a giant party when the day finally comes he takes down his sign on the door. thx doc :!:

The Thunder Bay office is Monday, Wednesday, Friday. 10:30-3:30.

The pancakes at the Hoito were excellent. Thanks for the tip.
