A09F0176: The Air Transat A310-300, registration C-GTSF, was being ground run by maintenance personnel from a contracted overhaul facility following a "C" check. During the run-up, the aircraft jumped its chocks. The aircraft travelled across the tarmac, across a road, and into soft forested grounds. Both wings hit lamp standards resulting in damage to the leading edge slats. The engine nose cowls were damaged when hitting trees. The main bogies sustained damage and the nose gear was embedded in soft ground and was likely damaged.

Canadian managed to do it in YVR and Airbus managed to do it in Telous.... has nothing to do with "cheap maintenance"

Well at least this one isn't a total lost like the brand new A340 that Airbus wrecked.

Expensive as it looks it could have been a whole lot worse if it hit something else on the ramp. Seemed to jump the chocks pretty much dead straight.

MMMM...wonder what the SMS report will say for the root cause, Oh guess I should have not said that since I am sure they did some proactive studies to cover that off to ensure that would not happen. Oh well can you say ouch and $$$$.

Doesn't it always go to the cheapest bidder? Always wanted to include something along the lines of that in a PA.
