Instructing

Post by Tango01 »

Hey folks, 2 questions.

I applied to a few flight schools, far away from home. Im in Ontario and the FTU's are in BC and AB:

1. Are phone interviews normally acceptable or does it need to be in person. (Problem being, I don't have much money left to be flying around the country/renting cars/hotels and all that, just to get a shot at an interview, or get a PFO letter) I know this sounds retarded, but I have seen that done in other professions.

2.Given the winter weather and Olympics coming up, is it even worth getting a job out west right now, or am I better off hanging around here (getting away without paying rent here)

Thanks guys/girls

Apply at Harv's Air in MB... Great school, good people, and most importantly, busy.

Save your cash. Winter is a slow time for flight schools out west. Even if you get a job you're not going to fly much. IMHO

Most of my jobs instructing or otherwise were given through phone interviews.

I'm sure Harv's will be hiring soon. They are always pretty busy.

Friend from BC had a phone interview with Harvs, they seem like a great place from the one time that I stopped in there. Good luck

Harv's as previously stated... I'm a former instructor and the time did me very well so far. I'm a west coast boy that moved out there and survived to go onto bigger and better just like I'm sure you're planning on doing too.

I've heard that some of the schools are even getting shut down before, during and after the olympics which is tough for business and tough for pay checks.

PM me if you'd like more info or someone to talk to out there...

it sure is.... thats when I got my start... just in time for cadets... all the flying you can handle. And if your really ambitious there are lots of guys wanting to get night raitings and not alot of instructors willing to hang around till 10pm
