anybody working in fiji wanna let us know what it's really like down there? i see that pacific island seaplanes has an ad out for a beaver pilot, and i've had offers from turtle before but never been able to actually go down there.

is it as much fun as I like to think it would be?

I recently finished in Fiji and it can be fun. The mentioned operators are BOTH CRAZY. Keep that in mind. So really whoever you work for you'll be working for CRAZY PEOPLE. The latter you mentioned is so CRAZY - it'll scare you and you might rethink your opinions on justifiable homicide. The first is just plain crazy.
Pros and Cons

Cons
- over gross on every flight
-huge swells that you must land in
-crazy boss
-poor pay (after tax which is 35%)
-Nadi is pretty boring
-housing is hard to find
-FFF (Fiji F**k-up Factor)
-bad maintenance
-crazy boss
-Ever had a Boils??
-beaches are crap on the mainland

Pros
-tropical climate
-beautiful sunsets
-cheap beer
-easy foreign girls

The chioce is yours.

Fiji was good for about 6 monoths. Then the locals start getting on your nerves. Beautiful country and some great flying. The owner is kinda crazy, but I found him fair most of the time (after you weeded through the bullshit of course). I have had worse experiences in aviation thats for sure... All float pilots should spend a bit of time flying in a Fiji setting

Why would you want to go to Fiji when you could go to Scotland? I just don't get it. :)

So how much can a guy save to send home to pay those loans while working out there? After all your housing and food is paid for...?
Anybody have a general idea?
