Having to show up at the airport 3 hrs ahead of time and not be able to take anything on board as carry on. Then when they loose your bags at your destination you have jack shit....

Canadians wouldn't have a sense of identity if it weren't for the ability to bash the USA....especially the followers of the antics of former Liberal MP Carolyn Parrish ... who can cost this country tens of millions in trade and nobody in the downtown Toronto Starbucks Coffee Houses bats an eye.

Those of you that fly the bush, who do you think ultimately pays your salaries if you fly for an outfitter? Americans thats who.

Why not tell them to piss off and leave us alone next season? Seal that with a T shirt with an American flag with a red circle and a line through it when you pull up to the dock in your Beaver to take them to a fly-out camp. Be sure to spit at their feet too, just to show you won't stand for any BS from them, and you are your own man.

You could come up with some kind of modification to the "Yankee go home theme" so popular in places with booming economies like Central America ... or maybe you could do your own reenactment of an Iranian Anti-American demonstration irrationally screaming how "America is the Great Satan."

Oh yes, and no demonstration like that is complete without some socially maladjusted bozo burning an American flag too ... you just have to have that, or your protestation just isn't complete ... sort of like having chocolate cake without icing. You'd better carry a dozen or so flags in the back of the airplane, and you could always drain some gas from one of the sumps to get the fire started.

That would make them really want to tip you for flying them into a lake wouldn't it? And .. your boss the lodge owner would just love to have you come back and fly for him next season wouldn't he?

Just think for a moment USA did not exist.... We would still be here and would be self sufficient (we have all the resources we need).... We might not have some of the foods or products that cannot be produced in or temperate climates. We might not even have some of the technology that we have today, but you know what we'd still be better off than being tied to yanks

Yes, and the ability for you to be paid to do that job is based on the rest of our economy, which is highly dependant on US trade. Look at Afghanistan, or any other 3rd world nation for an extreme example: There's a reason that what we consider essential services are very limited in those countries: their economies are in tatters, and so their governments are completely unable to compete financially for staff with other organizations. Those who'd make good cops make good soldiers for warlords or goonds for gangs, and make more money in the process (I'm not implying that cops are goons). Medical professionals will emigrate to other countries en masse for much higher pay and standards of living. So yes, your job, as it is, it dependant on the United States, regardless of whether it is directly related to imports or exports. Would we have 100% unemployment if our neighbours to the south disappeared? No, but our per-capita GDP(PPP) and standard of living would be more on par with Ukraine than the United Kingdom.

Nearly 80% of our exports go to the US. Some of that could be re-directed to China, India, and other nations, but at a much higher cost. Our next largest export partner after the US is the UK, they get nearly 3% of our exports. No nation is even within an order of magnitude of the US when it comes to receiving exports from us. To suggest that our economy would be OK, or that we'd be better off without them shows a total ignorance of reality. We might be better off if US policies were significantly different than they are now, but we would be far worse off if they simply disappeared completely.

Fogducker I don't miss flying stinky hunters up to kill our wildlife and personally I think it's a disgrace. Oh yeah, real skill involved in shooting a bear especially after we've been baiting them for a month with barrels of stinky meat and mouldy bread.

What about NAFTA and softwood lumber? They only use it when it suits them. What about the Geneva convention and Guantanamo? Same thing.

Cat, what are you talking about with the reserve system? Nobody is saying Canada is perfect and that certainly is a perfect example of why it isn't, but the States isn't exactly known for it's racial harmony.

About five years ago I was with a friend in Toronto, and we were invited to the home of a third party. As I sat there in the home of a total stranger who was one of those smarmy, smug, well left of NDP types that is against almost everything under the sun ... advocates animal rights, worldwide social inequity of opportunity, education programs which benefit only the already privileged, corporate greed, CEO pay, all power to the trade unions, current attempts to eradicate racism, not enough bicycle paths, more soup kitchens needed, no nuke power stations, immediately end mining and forestry industries ...you name it, he was strongly against it. Of course, he was underemployed, and had been fired about 6 times already that year.

As he was spouting his philosophy of how society should be, I just kept quiet ... it was his house, and after all, I was a guest of a guest. He is welcome to spout off about whatever the heck he wants to, as is his right ... gained because people laid down their lives so he could be as screwed up as he may please.

When he and another of his brethren started on about 9-11 and said "The Americans deserved it" I couldn't take it any more and gave him a piece of mind, beginning with "you sanctimonious little prick," and carried on non-stop for about 6 minutes all with the same breath.

We left his house a few minutes later.

Since then I've decided to never remain silent again when someone makes anti-American remarks, and let those comments, generally founded in total ignorance or lack of self confidence, go unchallenged.

To do so, and not stand up and be counted simply allows them to preach their form of BS, thinking the entire world shares their feelings.

Thats right, all those people on the plane deserved to die, simply because they are not muslim. It certainly is not because the great evil George Bush is president. Maybe its because all those Americans had the nerve to be born and actually enjoy life. How dare they not become muslim. Maybe because when ever there is a disaster in the world, in any country, the Americans are there with help. Whenever you see food aid being passed out the bag always seems to say USA, maybe thats it. Maybe it was because not enough infidels died on 9-11. Maybe it was because the Americans finaly haulled europes ass out of the sling it was in in the 40's and put an end to the Nazi horror.

The USA does not suck, and the people in that plane did nothing to deserve to die. Its just lucky that Al Quiada picked an incompetant boob to do there dirty work.
