Borek overrun YRT
TSB reported that the Kenn Borek Air Beech B99, registration C-GKBA, was landing at Rankin, NU. It landed long on Runway 31 and did not stop until in the overrun. The aircraft taxied to the main apron and sustained minor damage to the belly and propellers. The runway threshold lights were damaged.

Queue to the arm chair quarter backs...
It's obvious that someone made a mistake, why crucify the pilot(s); I can assure you they are doing it to themselves.
It happens from flight schools to the airlines and anyone who thinks it can never happen to them are deluding themselves. We all make mistakes; by neglect, fatigue, bad luck or combinations there of. Most times you get away with it; sometimes it bites you in the ass.
This has happened before, it will happen again. Learn what you can from these events and do your best to not make the same mistakes yourselves.
Fly safe all.

Must have been his braking technique...
Sorry, couldn't resist. The important thing is that they didn't spill their coffee.

KAG, good advice!
I'm guessing that these armchair quarterbacks or comedians missed something in their development, to joke about accidents is not funny at any time!

Re: Borek overrun YRT
There is a lot of information missing to even begin to make assumptions about what happened most importantly being when did this happen. Rankin has been under some real shit weather for a few weeks now so really anything could have happened and I really wouldn't blame them for trying to get in.

Kind of amazing how some on this forum don't mind putting in their .02 cents until it affects a company they like then everyone becomes arm chair quarter backs and douche bags.
Re: Borek overrun YRT
Don't forget, there are no contributing factors, just stupid pilots making stupid mistakes and not using their heads.

Hey Pelmet,
got a source?
20 second search of the TSB website and the CADORS reveals no such incident.

If only there was an association like a Canadian College of Professional Pilots to represent us! Someone to weed out the bums and reprobates that these pilots so obviously are, and ensure that low life operators like Kenn Borek are run out of business!!

Re: Borek overrun YRT
In the cheer of New Year's - does Borek team 2 check pilot's together? Could this have been a contributing factor?

Maybe the weather was terrible. Whatever it was, it's not funny.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself

The thing about this thread is - we are all giving forewarning to the armchair quarterbacks etc - yet there hasn't been one post yet to that effect. This entire thread is full of warnings and threats, maybe it is working!

I cannot believe you think of Borek as shoddy operator.I can't think of a more challenging world than what they work in. A real good example is the winter rescue that the Twin Otter crew did a few years ago picking up the doctor who was so very ill.Just remember the mighty USAF could not deliver on that mission. My hat is off to that group ,and I would fly with them any day if I was in the far north or the deep south or anywhere else in the world that they so successfully work.
From your post I doubt that you could really judge who is a good operator . Sometimes incidents happen and sometimes accidents happen. All will gain from this event including you and your attitude.

Thanks Ray Ban
It pisses me off that after 36 years of serious VFR and a bit of IFR some runt can ruin a guys career by what he posts on this forum. I myself have not hurt myself or any passengers but I have modified a couple of aircraft over the course of my career. Those guys don't deserve to be judged this way and this fast. We are all just trying to earn a living.
Happy New Year to all

Hey beechnut, go back and read it again. It's sarcasm! Welcome to the internet! Enjoying your first computer?
P.S. I was a Borek guy. Good outfit with some great people. Can only have gotten better since SRP left the building.

I've been sitting back and watching the comments. Also agree that the pilots are likely kicking themselves the hardest so no need to add to their misery. If only there was an association like a Canadian College of Professional Pilots to represent us! Someone to weed out the bums and reprobates that these pilots so obviously are, and ensure that low life operators like Kenn Borek are run out of business!!
Anyway just had to say to Beechnut, "thanks man". I'm not the only old edit here.
And to Tiny Voices for bringing back memories. I used to be a Borek hand too and SRP used to lose sleep over my after hours pranks and antics. I enjoyed his misery. hahahah!!!

The Hudson coastline communities can be very very tricky in winter storms. Glad to hear no one was hurt, and good job to the crew for limiting the damage and avoiding pax and personal injury.

Re: Borek overrun YRT
It is amazing how many missed the sarcasm in Tiny Voices post and took it as a slam against the Borek pilots.
Having an accident flying in the conditions often found in the Arctic is sometimes just being in the wrong place when it all goes to hell.

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

I was wondering how long is was going to take to get you up and kicking in 2010. Happy New Year.
I hear that Steve is running MAT trying to run TMA off the island with a bit of success.
Your right about a little sarcasm but I still don't like these guys kicking sand in someones eyes. A good reputation travels fast in this industry and a bad ones travels quite a bit faster as you well know. Remember guys its easier to let the CAT out of the bag than it is to put him back in
