I love to visit this forum at least once a day, but this forum just lost some points in my book.

I totally agree. Moderation in moderation. Say your thing and let others decide whether you're right or not.

I was wondering BRiZE why did the forum lose points in your book? Was it because you didn't agree with the moderator or was it because there were some posts that hit a little too low below the belt?

With my posts I've tried to add a little dry humor to the other closed thread. Without it I'd go nuts. It's true that the other thread became a shouting match. With each side lobbing bombs at the other it would be very difficult for an outsider to distinguish who is right and who is wrong. What I can say with full confidence is that the morale amongst the instructors at the WWFC has taken a dive. In fact it's no longer in a dive...it just hit the ground. As for me I knew in advance that this industry is ruthless, I just didn't know it was this bad.

To answer your question. It is my opinion that this forum used to let the readers decide what is fact and what is not on their own.

Exactly, We live in Canada, not Cuba or China or North Korea, let people say whats on their mind, this is a forum where we are (as I thought) meant to debate amongst ourselves to see how people in this industry are feeling these days. There was no racist or hate propaganda portrayed in these posts, some of the posts about that MEL guy were close, but I didnt say anything offensive just pleaded my case on why I would work at WWFC, and that post was deleted. This was probobly the most interesting and personally self pertaining post I have read on here and I am really disappointed all of that good debate was erased for no one to see.
Some of it maybe I can see erasing "even though I personally dont like the idea" but that topic was mutilated far beyond the point that the "majority," (and I use that term loosely) of people probobly thought it needed to be.

Brahma and anyone else who may care:

First of all, racism has no place on AvCanada. I have never stood by and allowed that sort of garbage to be posted here, and I expect that no other mods would either; that being said we (mods and AvCanada himself) don't always have the time to read every post and sometimes crap like that slips by. If you see a post you think is racist and nothing is being done about it, drop me a PM and I promise I will take a hard look at it. I can't promise a personal apology, but I do promise it will get my attention.

The second rule is that naming people in a negative way is also uncool. I don't mean using somone's forum name, I mean their real name. The reasons behind that should be self-evident. Actually modding posts like these are a little trickier, as a post that says "Joe Smith enjoys the company of small boys" is different to me than "Joe Smith paid his employees poorly and encouraged me to fly 16 hours a day, every day". I would edit or delete the first post, but allow the second one to stay unless Joe Smith himself complained about it, in which case I would move the post or thread to the mods forum and refer it to AvCanada for final judgement.

The board is constantly evolving; this particular topic has been an eye-opener for us and has given us a chance to suss a few areas out that perhaps we had been unclear on before. This has been discussed in the mods forum and I think we have come to an agreement that will ensure the smooth flow of opinions through this forum and all the others.

We aren't perfect, but we do take this seriously, and we do want to do right by the members here.

Instead of crying about how bad everything is, strap on the balls and tell someone that has the ability to change it, no one on hear is going to change anything there for you. Then if things don't change you can bitch about how they wil not listen or do anything about it, otherwise whats the point. If you have a toothache you go to the dentist, bitching to your friends is not going to make it feel better. I just don't get it, I sit back and try not to say anything because I see the abuse some folks take on here, and I have been a victim of that abuse .. I used to post under another name and gave up, because some ass thinks he knows everything about everything. The ones that whine and belly ache about things that much get the hell out of aviation if it's that bad. Am I the only one that feels this way or is everyone else sick to death of the bitching?

Although it's true that "bitching" does get a little tired after awhile, this web site is devoted to people who want to say something, including venting their frustrations anonymously. I believe that butwhy makes some interesting points. butwhy is not "bitching" but is simply making an observation. flythefrigginplane do you ever get mad at the news reporter stationed in some war torn country who covers the latest event? Although it may get a little boring to hear of casualties on a daily basis there's nothing wrong when a reporter does his/her job. :?

I don't think any body is crying here except you my kid. What i saw during my visit to your club wasn't pretty. Don't hide the facts to yourself you'll break your own heart at the end. Also if YOU want to leave the indystry, you are more than welcome to do so.. FYI I have been in aviation industry for 26 years in Canada and outside Canada. and i'm planning to be withing the industry as long as I can.

Cheers.
