Reporters don't chase ambulances, that's a lawyer. Reporters race ambulances to the scene of the wreck then get in the way to get their all important prize winning shot.

Daryl...you want more info on this from pilots? Keep reading these forums and you'll get a good idea. You may have to work a little harder for your story though.

Seems like we're always bitching that the media isn't getting it right, so a (very brave) guy decides to go on this site and find out some things, and some people just tell him to get lost? Yeah, that's gonna help him getting the right image. Then in a week, when there's an incorrect story, these same people will say, "Geez, there goes the media getting it wrong".

Jetsgo leaves long trail of creditors in its contrail

Court-appointed monitor RSM Richter Inc. released a preliminary list of accounts payable yesterday at Jetsgo Corp., which filed for bankruptcy protection on March 11.

Amounts owed to some creditors have been tallied, but details on others have yet to be released by Richter.

Here are highlights from nearly 100 pages of Jetsgo financial data and listings compiled by Richter (figures in some cases will differ from those claimed by creditors):

Total Jetsgo liabilities: $108-million, with no provisions yet for claims related to aircraft leases and severance for Jetsgo employees.

Value of "unearned revenue":

$40.7-million -- estimate of base ticket values held by Jetsgo passengers for flights on or after March 11.

Non-refundable passenger

credits: $5.5-million in discount vouchers issued to passengers.

Value of unused tickets prior to March 11: $6-million (ticket holders were given one year to use).

Airport improvement fees owed: $2-million

Other airport charges owed:

$5.9-million

Federal and provincial payroll deductions at source: $2.2-million

Amounts owed to certain creditors: Greater Toronto Airports Authority ($4.3-million*); other airports ($3.6-million); loan payable to Jetsgo founder Michel Leblanc ($3-million); loans payable to pilots ($2.8-million); U.S. transportation taxes ($2.5-million); Nav Canada ($1.6-million).

Amounts owed to various suppliers and trades: $28.4-million

Canadian airports listed as creditors: Victoria, Vancouver, Prince George, B.C., Kelowna, B.C., Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Alta., Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Moncton, Charlottetown, Halifax, Sydney, N.S., St. John's.

U.S. airports listed as creditors: Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Florida airports in Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.

No. of creditors owed more than $5,000: 350. Includes airport authorities across Canada and many in the United States.

No. of creditors owed less than $5,000: 2,900. Dominated by travel agencies, but others on an 83-page list include WestJet Airlines Ltd., Taco Time, Tourism PEI, McDonald's, JS Chinese Fast Food, Subway Restaurants, Purolator Courier Ltd., UPS Canada Ltd., Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation, Wal-Mart.

NAV Canada, which provides air traffic control services, and the Greater Toronto Airport Authority have both asked Quebec Superior Court to lift a stay on proceedings in Jetsgo's bankruptcy protection proceedings and allow them to seize jets owned by the airline.

Jetsgo shut down operations on March 11 and was granted creditor protection. The shutdown left about 17,000 passengers stranded in North American and the Caribbean.

According to the court filings, the GTAA said it was owed about $2.5 million for unpaid airport improvement fees, and just under $3 million for unpaid landing fees, general terminal fees, employee parking and GST.

NAV Canada said in its filing it is owed $1.6 million for navigation services.

Jetsgo has 15 105-seat Fokker aircraft that the GTAA and NAV Canada are looking to seize and get court-appointed monitor RSM Richter to sell, according to court motions.

The Toronto Star reported that the GTAA is targetting 11 Jetsgo Fokkers parked in Quebec City, while NAV Canada is after 12 of the aircraft.

We as a group ALL need to understand that paying to work is not acceptable anymore.

The general public already does'nt have such a rosy image of pilots now. The other day I was at Starbucks having coffee with some friends, and one of them asked me "Do all airlines make their pilots pay for their own training?" What could I say to the guy. I am someone, who would never do this, as I have always indicated in related posts. It just made me realize, that a lot of people out there now think that this is common practice.
