AC to sue for Toronto Island return

The airline said in a conference call that it has launched a lawsuit in the Federal Court of Canada to resume flying to the Toronto Island airport where rival Porter Airlines is now the only airline allowed to operate.

Air Canada says it is suing for the right to operate at the Toronto Island airport. (CBC)
The airline said it has "not received a satisfactory response" from the Toronto Port Authority, which oversees the operations of the airport, in negotiations to resume service there.

"We are anxious to get into the airport, our customers want it, and it is an opportunity we need to pursue," said CEO Calin Rovinescu. "We'll see what the courts say and we'll take it from there."
Hmmm after Porter started in YTZ, you suddenly listen to your customers..?

They never said they couldn't return, just jazz didn't like the terms. IE: if I recall a 5 year lease

In 2005 while Jazz was there, the YTZ saw just over 40k passengers, now in 2010 there will be about 1 million. Thats why Air Canada is listening suddenly. I'm not sure about the approach they are using... can they still afford a lawyer?

Even if they do get it in, I really don't see how it will help them much, at least in contrast to amount of flights done by Porter out of there.

Not too sure how much room QK will have operating out of there, too
