Central AB skydiving
Curious if anybody here has/is flying for any of the sky dive operations in central Alberta. Pros, Cons??
Re: Central AB skydiving
Alberta Skydiving - Biesecker - Contact Ian Flanigan - Pit Meadows - Good Aircraft - monthly wage - other duties involved.
Full time (summer) employment - Military contract keeps them busy during the week.
BigSky (innisfail) - Started thier own O/C last year, Decent aircraft, Just bought a TP206 off Eden North to go along with their 182. Decent people, nice op. They want to operate weekdays this year from what I hear.
Eden North (lake Eden) Lease a Caravan (American registered). Bulk of jumping is from this aircraft. Also have 2 182's. The operating hours of these machines are down drastically since the Caravan arrived. Good maintanence.
Edmonton Skydive. Trying to get thier own O/C up this spring.....time will tell. They have a 182 they hope to use for this. Also saying that a Beech 90 is coming up from the States for the season. (N registered). Lots of changes there in the last couple years....jury still out. Again, time will tell.
Vertical Extreme - Vulcan - 2-182's, have seen somewhat better days. Nice guy but a little ..... disorganized... might be the way to put it.
Optimair - Will not be supplying skydive aircraft to any Alberta DZ's this year. So no need for skydive pilots.
Anything else you need to know?

Re: Central AB skydiving
Vertical Extreme used to operate out of Dids at Randys old place, they moved to Vulcan at the beginning of last year. They only operate out of Vulcan (private strip at a farm close to town) and they only list Medicine Hat and Lethbridge because they are trying to draw business from those locations. They only operate however from their own location. You will notice that if you google calgary and skydiving you will bring up references to Biesecker, Innisfail and Vertical Extreme......strictly a marketing angle.

Same reason Sir Edmund Hillary and all those that followed him climbed Everest......because they wanted to and it was there.Slappy the Squirrel wrote:Yeah.

Its a hoot, it's a social subset and for those that get really involved it becomes a lifestyle...for better or worse.

Re: Central AB skydiving
I have worked for the guy that owns Verticle Extreme....He is a really, really good guy. I cannot stress that enough. He will give you the shirt off his back. It may seem disorganized but he tries very very hard to make everyone happy. H***** is a great person. Anyone fortunate to have had any dealing will tell you the same.

Interested in the minimums they except for pilots for their insurance purposes?
And how this compares to Ontario.

Edmonton Skydive is leasing an American Super Otter this summer, I'm flying it up this week. As far as insurance I've heard for the piston job planes most don't have insurance requirements. But turbines are usually 1000tt 25on type.
