Even if that's not real, it's still pretty cool!
Man they talk fast down there.

That's pretty funny

A parent's only as good as their dumbest kid. If one wins a Nobel Prize but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed

All that she was missing was the standard advisory "heads up everyone, AirChina is on the ground".
Hope he didn't get in trouble for allowing her to operate without a radio licence

Re: Bring your kid to work day ( JFK ATC)
Didn't think you require a radio licence in the States?

The spirit of human life comes from new experiences.

They may or may not be on the ground. We're really not sure where they are anymore.yycflyguy wrote:heads up everyone, AirChina is on the ground".
All we know is they are not on Mike Alpha. That place is safe.

Shame on the FAA
Many of us have heard it on the internet and before today I did'nt give it a second thought. The little boy "directing" traffic with an ATC microphone. Today on the news it was announced the father of that little guy has been placed on suspension. For Shame on the FAA. I agree this is something that should not happen everyday and maybe the FAA should pass on stronger directives to prevent this happening again if they are so scared of legal repercussions in the future, but COME ON! Did they have to suspend the guy for giving his son what I would consider a great experience?
I'm absolutely sure his dad was right behind him telling him what to say so what does it matter who's voice was on the radio? None of the pilots had a problem with it, it sounded like it brightened everyone's day. Maybe the guys at the FAA are disappointed that their jobs are so boring and dry none of their kids would want to go to work with them. I hate how some people just have to suck the fun out of everything they can. Give the guy back his Mic I'm sure he's soured enough on this experience he'll never do it again.

Re: Shame on the FAA
I don't know if this fellow's unit would have handled it internally or not, but they never got the chance. This was plastered all over the internet and the FAA had no choice but to deal with it. If all he gets is a suspension then he's lucky.

Quote by Shytehawk on PPRuNe: "I just cannot believe my ears. An aircraft actually took off on the instructions of a child without verifying the clearance was genuime."
The above was the first response on the thread http://www.pprune.org/rumours-news/4075 ... -news.html
With aviation frequency radios readily available to any nut/terrorist this sort of behaviour cannot be condoned. A few false calls could wreak havoc in a busy terminal area. This is apart from blocking a busy frequency with unnecessary verbiage. PPRuNers obviously understand the implications more than those on here.

Re: Shame on the FAA
It would appear that you've never had the privilege of flying into JFK, or even listened to or read any of the transmissions made there on a day to day basis. Ignore the 10 year old voice and its the same "verbiage" that the kid's dad and almost all the other controllers at JFK use.Carrier wrote:This is apart from blocking a busy frequency with unnecessary verbiage.

The media are reporting that not only the dad/controller has been suspended, but also his supervisor.

I love my job and all but some people take things Waaaayyyyy to seriously. I normally dont post on here cause I have more important things to do. This time I had to say something, I heard the transmissions before they went on the mainstream parasite media and nobody had a problem with it. I wouldnt have a problem with it. The FAA is run by the Government and we all know how good of a job they normally do lol.
Re: Bring your kid to work day ( JFK ATC)
Well after more than 2 weeks the Feds have decided that wasn't as funny as everyone thought.

Mountains out of molehills. Funny to hear the rhetoric about unprofessional behaviour. NYC, and in particular, JFK controllers are famous for their non standard comments... that's what makes them so great!

Re: Bring your kid to work day ( JFK ATC)
Reminds me of a "voice" i was talking to at Green Bay overflying early one winter flying. Actually woke up everyone on board intentionally to listen to the voice. ven asked for weather further down the line so we could here more. Swear, I almost piss#d myself.
How do you go 205 kts TAS on 32 gal/hr without turbos!
Re: Bring your kid to work day ( JFK ATC)
I had my kids in the tower in CY?? airport and they talked on the radio to their mom who was flying. It was kind of fun. She heard the kids and couldn't figure out what was going on at first, then burst out laughing on the radio. I wish I knew the date and I could have downloaded the liveatc feed.
