Re: Fox Flight
the whole logbook comment makes it sound like they're looking for a low-timer that'll put up with a lot of BS......also, days off for CAR's rest? oh wow, we should be kissing your feet for that! like, duh!!! oh, you follow TC rules, thanks for letting us know.......

Re: Fox Flight
10 Days off in a row, plus CARS days. That should give another 3 around the middle of the 20 or 21 on. Plus an aotomatic day off if you go over 12 hours, 3 days in a row. I could live with this.
Re: Fox Flight
Dude, you really need to read the whole ad before you start making comments. 10 days off in a row + whatever is needed comply with the CAR's. Doesn't seem so bad too me... Sound like you almost have half a month off.C206Pilot wrote:the whole logbook comment makes it sound like they're looking for a low-timer that'll put up with a lot of BS......also, days off for CAR's rest? oh wow, we should be kissing your feet for that! like, duh!!! oh, you follow TC rules, thanks for letting us know.......

Re: Fox Flight
show me a jet pilot flying medevac that is really happy, and i'll show you a liar. who wants to fly a jet being on call 24/7.....there's a reason they're looking for a low-timer.
Re: Fox Flight
It's true, no one wants to do medevacs for their entire life, but it's a chance to break into the jet world. I see nothing wrong with the schedule.C206Pilot wrote:show me a jet pilot flying medevac that is really happy, and i'll show you a liar. who wants to fly a jet being on call 24/7.....there's a reason they're looking for a low-timer.

Re: Fox Flight
It says there are bases in Barbados and Bangkok as well... is a rotational type thing or do the crews live there?
Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

Re: Fox Flight
Hey Canuck I would imagine that they don't have flight crews that live in Barbados or Bangkok. If you go on their website they only have two aircraft both Canadian Reg. and both fly out of Toronto by the looks of things on flightaware.com. It also looks like the majority of their flying is done in north America and the Caribbean kinda thing.Just another canuck wrote:It says there are bases in Barbados and Bangkok as well... is a rotational type thing or do the crews live there?
I presume that the two offices that they have out of Canada are used for their ground transfer and supply equipment for the airlines for the airline transport of people in care.
That is what I got for the research I did on the company.

Re: Fox Flight
there is definitely nothing wrong with flying medevac. that's my point, if you're going to do it, go up north and fly a turbo-prop for a year or two, put your time in and move on. all of the guys i've known to get on jets somewhere with low time, ended up later flying turbo-props. this isn't europe or asia. canadian pilots fly turbo-props before jets.
Re: Fox Flight
I still doubt they plan on throwing a 500hr wonder in a jet, but who knows. From what I see in the ad, they will be looking for someone with 1500-3000 hours that will be upgradeable in the future. That is what i've seen from similar companies in the past. but who knows.
Re: Fox Flight
Has anyone heard anything from these guys? Wondering when they're making any decisions
It is better to be sitting on the ground wishing you were in the air than being in the air wishing you were on the ground
Re: Fox Flight
How does a medevac schedule work? Can't be on call 24/7 like it says above can you (CAR's)?
Re: Fox Flight
I did some research on that same question. Note that I am not an expert on this nor do I have any experience. I am going solely on threads from similar operators. To answer you question: it's pretty much company specific. Most similar operators have a 1hr call out or less. Many of them have you stay at the airport for your 12 hr shift waiting for any call-out. One place had to kick the tires and light the fires within 10 minutes of the call. That being said, you may get called out for a quick flight to sludgebury and that's it or it may be a day with non-stop flying. You will most likely be issued a pager or blackberry and emailed the flight plans and particulars. Needless to say, you won't have much of a life while during your rostered days, but you'll have plenty of time off to put a dent in your liver.
Pprune and ppc has a bit more info on this. Hope this sheds some light for you.

Closing date was posted as today so hopefully some call backs will be made soon unless someone has already had the call? Anyone?
Re: Fox Flight
This type of operation is far from typical provincial Medevacs.

The long distance trips are brewed well before the actual dispatch time. So, there can be alot of notice. Where else can you be down in Florida one duty day, then cruising in Europe then next? If you're still seeking adventure and want to learn a ton about international procedures you want this position. If you want a fixed monthly schedule.... maybe not.
Good luck to those who get called.

Re: Fox Flight
The position was negated, a person leaving stuck around or some sort of thing.
