Online ground school
Question for instructors...have you found that students who have taken their ppl groundschool online to have the same level of knowledge and were able to pass their exam as well as those who attended class?
Any idea which are the best online courses that are available?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Online ground school
Depends on how hard they study. They have to be willing to work hard at it and force themselves to do the reading.
It think it can be hard for a student that has never done any online training.
pilottraining.ca is a good one. They have lots of courses available and I think the cost is pretty low.

Had some students use the pilottraining.ca ground school. Half failed the written. Nav is hard to present via online power point.

Thanks guys...I see that the course is available for 270 days once you're signed up. How does it work? Are there different modules to complete and 'send in'? Or can you go back and review anytime?

Re: Online ground school
Its all laid out, with slides on each section, actual classroom footage of that portion of the groundschool, and quizzes for each section. At the end of it all, I believe you have to pass 3 sample exams with __% in order to get your recommend. Forgot to add, yes you can login and check whatever you wish anytime for the 270 days.
Re: Online ground school
We don't offer a ground School and all our students that do their training on the floatplane do the online ground school through pilottraining.ca. We haven't had anyone fail but we do try and supplement that training with some one-on-one. You need to have some self motivation. In my opinion, it's a great option as you can do on your own time.
