Wasaya Flight Attendent
I'm sorry, Am I missing something here. There Hiring a chief flight attendent. WTF??
What are they getting, kinda funny there doing layoffs, now hiring this.
Are they retooling the 748's to be Combi's again or what??

Re: Wasaya Flight Attendent
My guess would be Dash 8 for Musselwhite crew changes.
Re: Wasaya Flight Attendent
Retooling a 748? I highly doubt it. They went that route. I think they're saving the money form paying furloughed pilots for a down stroke on a Dash 8, or something similar? The aircraft will be financed through cash injections by the poor sots dumb enough to show up for training with around 20 K in their jeans.
I can see guys pulling the plug at Porter to go fly an 8 for these turkeys!

If it were just for Musselwhite, they'd more likely just toss seats into one of the derelicts they have sitting in the snow banks in YQT. No overhead. You can run a Hawker you already own, for many years on the price of a Dash 8. Surely, even Wasaya has the brains to figure this out? Perhaps not.Samson wrote:My guess would be Dash 8 for Musselwhite crew changes.
Hawker costs more to run. Sure it does, but there is no crew training involved, and you already own it.

Re: Wasaya Flight Attendent
Actually, Musselwhite has been pretty specific about wanting the company that does that contract to have a Dash 8. They want fewer flights with more employees on board as compared to the circus that currently takes place on the KM8 ramp every morning. Why Wasaya has been able to keep the contract? The answer is very political.Doc wrote:If it were just for Musselwhite, they'd more likely just toss seats into one of the derelicts they have sitting in the snow banks in YQT. No overhead. Re: Wasaya Flight Attendent
Very political indeed. Is there enough business from just one customer to warrant a Dash 8? Would Wasaya lose the contract if they used a Hawker? Both airplanes have the same number of seats, give or take, and a well "dressed" Hawker is a Hell of a lot cheaper than a Dash 8. Since the contract is out of YQT, who would they have to worry about coming in and taking over? I can see why the mine would want something larger than the 1900, though.

Re: Wasaya Flight Attendent
Well, speaking from experience, although I'm out of the loop now there is enough business from Musselwhite (pax loads, etc..) to warrant it. I believe they were already at risk this year of losing the contract to other interested parties who already operate Dash 8s. Perimeter was in doing work for them as well as Air Cree. It never looks good to a client to see the company you are paying, contracting other companies to get the job done. This occurred for any number of reasons from 1900s being used for charters to 1900s staying nice and warm as MTC tried to hash out issues. Sometimes, it really was just a matter of not having enough 1900s to accommodate the loads. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe part of the deal from day one was that Wasaya would acquire a dash 8. I could be wrong on that. It really is third party info as I have never had the privilege to see the actual contract. Anyway, as I said I'm out of the loop now so things may have changed. Maybe they will outfit a hawker, who knows. I doubt that though.Doc wrote:Very political indeed. Is there enough business from just one customer to warrant a Dash 8? lol how do you figure?
Re: Wasaya Flight Attendent
I believe they won the "contract" for Musslewhite with the Dash 8. They were not the only bidder although I have heard that they pulled a few political strings to get it.
