Marketplace forum wanted...

I'm trying to generate some response on this, but apparently not many people read the forum suggestion thread where I posted it.... anyway, please add your comments!

I have asked Joe if he would consider a "Marketplace" forum under "Aircraft for Sale" - kind of like this one on Vertical's forum:

It would be a place for people to buy/sell/trade aviation-related items & services. Presently, members on this forum must choose between the Misc. forum, or posting inappropriate items under "Aircraft for Sale" - eg. block time wanted/avail, hangars for lease, GPS for sale, car rentals available...

Would anyone else like to see a "Marketplace" or "buy/sell/trade" forum? If so, please add your voice!

On another note, I had just noticed your post in the other forum today ... it seems there are a few subforums which are not showing up in the "view active topics" link, which may be a partial reason for low response. I've posted about this issue in the mod forum.

Heh. Thanks. I haven't had much time to work on it lately. Getting everything squared away before the season starts. So it'll be on hold until September or so when I get back. I've got some work on the rudder done in addition to the pictures you have seen. It's quite the learning experience and a hell of a lot of fun.

I tried replying to a post in the "marketplace" forum. However, it says "you cannot reply to a thread in this forum" and than after that, the reply button disappeared. Feel free to pm me and remove this thread.

The Marketplace is designed like the free job ad forum, where only the original post shows, and all correspondence after that is via the included email or phone, or via PM.

Benwa does have a point - if the Marketplace forum is restricted to original post only, then moving the headset "discussion" to that forum kind of killed the discussion! If the post didn't belong in the General forum (not sure why), and the Marketplace will retain the same format as Aircraft for Sale, then perhaps the Misc. forum would have been more appropriate for the headset discussion?

Alternatively, it might be useful to allow a "reply" function on the Marketplace forum to allow users to discuss, or ask questions pertaining to the item/service being offered/wanted. Other users might benefit from the discussions/answers since "Marketplace" is more open-ended than a specific classified such as "Aircraft for Sale".

Just a thought...

My mistake folks, I didn't realize the Marketplace was a no-reply forum. I agree with Snoopy though, it would be valuable to have an area within the Classified forums to discuss questions related to buying or selling items. Maybe a "Classified Discussion" forum could be added?

I don't think we need a third forum - I would bet Joe could simply "allow" the reply function on the "Marketplace forum.... Joe? Seems like the forum is taking off well, but seeing as it is less of a formal forum than "Aircraft for sale" which is a straight classified ad type forum, do you think you could allow the reply function in "Marketplace" and see how it goes? Widow, perhaps you could bring Joe's attention to this request if you're talking to him....
