Calgary to Yangon, Myanmar. Enjoyed that short trip every 6 weeks.

Re: Your Longest commute......?
Ouch, and I thought I had a rough ride in the past.
OK, my commuting history was:
Dammam, Saudi Arabia - Managua, Nicaragua (only every 10 weeks) but fortunately positive space
Toronto- Managua, Nicaragua (whenever I had more than 3 days off) and at the mercy of jumpseats and non-rev space available passes.
Happily not a commuter anymore. Live a pleasant 10 minute drive (at 50km/hr) from operations.

Re: Your Longest commute......?
YWG -> YYZ : 821nm, 2.5 hrs
YYZ -> FRA : 3427nm, 8.3 hrs
FRA -> DEL : 3312nm, 8 hrs
Plus, waiting between flights, and the time loss going east.
Total time spent: 25-ish hours at an airport + 11 for the time zone = 36 hours or so?

edit: bad math.

I commute from Toronto to Hong Kong monthly! Typically 15 hours or so depending on route and winds.

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: Your Longest commute......?
Is the commute worth it? I can't imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a flying position closer to home.
I'm only asking because I've often thought of doing an overseas commute but then I'd be chasing tin and I've not really been on that kind of path. I see the time away from my wife & kid being too hard and in the end, not making the overseas flying enjoyable.

It takes me 10 minutes to drive to school. 14 minutes if I take the bus, and 50 minutes if I walk.

Financially yes, life style no.Is the commute worth it?
In most countries it is no problem being able to find work in flying in the country you are a citizen of , however in Canada you have TCCA who are above the law and can and do deny Canadian citizens the right to fly in Canada so commuting over seas is the only answer in some cases.I can't imagine you'd be hard pressed to find a flying position closer to home.

Re: Your Longest commute......?
My best was 1 minute and 10 seconds. I lived across from the threshold of the runway. If I even saw one car, I was in heavy traffic.

Years ago when I was working for Borek inYRB, we had an AME come in for his 4 week rotation who had just come from the Antarctic! I can't remember how long it took him, but pole to pole! (well, almost

Re: Your Longest commute......?
Just half way again.
I have to do this every for every flight though.
kelowna yyc, 2 1/2 hr wait, AMS, but here 24 hrs b4 my flight, now off to KUL,
On the way back an 8 hr wait in AMS though and 3 hrs in YYC.
Is it worth it? Damn yes! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Only get a week at home after this one though.
Early retirement lurking around the corner. 3 more yrs!
