Cut lines in the trees in Northern MB

In many places around Northern MB, there are areas with criss-crossing or parallel straight "cut lines" in the trees. Some of them even are imprinted in swamps. Many seem to be only a few feet wide, but can be as long as 5-10km and be spotted from 10-16,000ft. They are found just on the northern edge of the CYTH CZ extending 20nm NW, around Nelson House, Leaf Rapids, South Indian, Lynn Lake, just west of God's River, 8nm SE of Lac Brochet, North of Sham, etc...

Anyone know what those are?

Seismic lines, you'll see them all over the north. They are now cutting wavy lines in most jurisdictions because of wildlife impact, just in case you see those too...

Ha ha yeah - so I've just learned.

I guess they didn't want to go with oil, gas and mineral exploration dynamite lines.
Its not good PR....

Seismic is used to map below ground structure, mainly looking for oil and gas.

The bags in the pictures are set out along the lines on very specific points, and they contain measuring equipment to record seismic waves set of by explosive charges drilled into the ground with seismic drills (heli-portable drilling equipment).

Not all seismic is done by heli, but anything in remote or mountainous areas generally is.

The flying is very high pressure with bag set out and pick up on the clock to the second. It can be really fun, or really boring, depends on the job location, etc, etc.

It could be seismic but chances are in that part of the world it could also be claim lines also in the 30's there was make work projects where the cut Meridian Lines and even part of the Ontario/Manitoba border .

The only active place I knew for gas was north of Fort Severn about 100 miles or so - Aquitane (SP) was in there in the 60's and maybe early 70's

For all you KBAL fans, it is how KBA got started.
First clearing farm land at Dawson Creek, then local seizmic lines, then in the Arctic where Kenn Borak Construction bought the first Twin Otter to move their own crews, in the late 60's early 70's. They got thier first charter licence by buying out Vic Turner Limited in Dawson Creek in 1971.

The actual truth of the matter is simple. For years Navajo pilots not knowing how to return home, used to drop bread crumbs. But alas, the birds kept eating them. Potato chips were tried as an alternative, but they were washed down with Cokes by the local inhabitants. Today, the Navajos tow chain saws to blaze a trail home.

There is a new power line going in (I don't know where it starts) but I know it cuts though our rice lake by Snow Lake. This may be what you saw.

Having stridently avoided Northern Manitoba for most of the last decade, I have no idea who's explanation is the most correct - however, Brow Bear's get's my vote.

Little secret....don't tell anyone....

...the cut lines let the CIA pilots know that the chemtrails have already been deployed in that area without having to break radio silence.

Not only am i an FSS but i used to be a Mine Engineer Tech! They are claim lines most likely. Used in mineral exploration to stake out or cut the lines on the limit of the claims. Then they will use these boundaries to register there claims. To keep the claim you have to do a certain amount of work (read spend money) on your claims. the claim staker will then come in and do various things to keep there claim. Some things are surface geological mapping, small sampling of rock and as some of the folk mentioned Geophysical survey's. There are 2 types of geophysical surveys, ground geophysics, some poor sap trudging through the bush witha big heavy machine and airborne geophysics.


this is the msot likely reason for the lines in the bush, the other is Northern manitoba's answer to crop circles!
