Building Help - Pitot Static model

Post by Troubled_Coffee »

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a working model of a pitot static system for our groundschool (gotta do something while the students have all the fun flying). Was wondering if anyone has tackled this project and would appreciate any ideas/experience.

Cheers

Are you trying to build something right from scratch that demonstrates how it works or do you have a supply of red-tagged items you're going to hook up so show a typical set up?

Well, I'm poking around the hanger for parts, but I've got an ASI, VSI, ALt, and Vacuum gauge.

I would like to design something that doesn't require students to wrap their lips around a tube and suck/blow.

Currently toying with the idea of using water pressure to simulate dynamic airflow through tubing shaped in a "U".

How about an adjustable air nozzle aimed at the pitot-static tube ,,that way you can see real-life effects of BLOCKAGE, angle of attack ,( by pivoting the tube) turbulence etc etc etc ,,,i dont know it its ever been done in a school environment but you would likely win an award !!!!
