Yup, but the insurance that they would save.
Forgot to add that there is a 10K bond for it as well as a 3 year contract.

I believe that a company in YRL was asking for twice that (8000 hours) for the same position... Intresting the way things are going.

It's all about supply and demand.

Twenty years ago, when there were lots of pilots and few available jobs (sound familiar?), Campbell Air out of St. Andrews had lofty expectations. The owner was quoted as saying, "If you don't have ten thousand hours then you're not going to fly my Navajo."

Have we come full circle?

Just b/c they ask, doesn't mean they will get those kind of quals to drive a van.

Think about the last time you sold a car, or anything for that matter. You ALWAYS set the price high, but have some room to move as well.

Of course the company is hoping to save thousands on insurance. Possibely it's a new company with no insurance history so the rate/requirements are quite high. Or possibely they are trying to save a buck. Are they going to reward the pilot with some of the saving he/she has brought to the company? Hopefully. What about working conditions? Benifits, days off, etc, etc.

If they truely expect that kind of time, the pilot would have to be compensated with money, benifits, sched, etc. If not, the next company down the way, will.
