Re: Diavik Diamond Mines Inc.
congrats tindi .
However like always politics played a huge factor .
1/discovery air of which tindi is a subsiduary was given a 34 million $ loan by the nwt gov't in 2008 . so if tindi ie discovery air loses the bid it puts at risk getting repaid on the loan. and that ain't gonna happen . id bet my mukluks that several in camera conversations regarding this were made. to which the til-cho and other native interests play a huge part in saying who gets the work.
2/next is the bip program ( biz incentive program for northern companies which gives prefered treatment . if divik went against the grain down the road this would bite them hard in the bottom line or regulatory process for future projects.
once again congrats but every one with any knowledge of the north knows that often the process is stacked against newcomers .

oldncold- couldn't have said it better myself. There are two ways for this process to work. The reality is changing in this business.

If you check out the DA web site they seem to be getting a few 1 year extensions. I am not sure if thats good news or bad. Maybe the 1 year extensions are companies getting ready for change. I doubt there was any bid if they only got a 1 year extension.
