King Air Tools
I am looking for a used set of King Air landing gear extension limiters, to prevent the oleo from extending all the way while jacking the aircraft.
If you have a set that you no longer use or know of someone who has a set, please shoot me a PM.
Thanks,
YBP

Re: King Air Tools
I believe every King Air has them built in...they're called torque links. What would cause a person to jack an aircraft that size with them disconnected and oleos under pressure anyways?

Re: King Air Tools
I believe ybp is referring to a tool to limit the extension, so you can jack one main gear for changing a tire, without having to jack it fully. I haven't used one in years, but a place I used to work had a homemade one. It basically hooked over the top and bottom of the torque links. I can try to make a drawing of what I have seen if you want, see if you can get one made easily.

That's where the stack of 2 x 12s come in handy. That's the only way I ever changed a King Air or Islander main tire.wrenchturner wrote:I believe ybp is referring to a tool to limit the extension, so you can jack one main gear for changing a tire, without having to jack it fully. (For 200 anyways, just realized 90s only have one tire).

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: King Air Tools
We had a set and they worked great, QA nixed them as they were not "approved tooling", so now we go all the way up

dashfixer
Look under chapter 20 Standard Practices pn 115 590023-1 main landing gear strut limiter
and 115-590035 nose landing gear shock strut limiter - then ask your QA guy to explain as to why they are not "Approved"
PITA

They are certainly approved for the B1900"s.Maybe YOUR QA is blowing smoke out his A SS?
Re: King Air Tools
Yes, they do look simple enough to make but now days with the "good ol" SMS system, that would be just looking for trouble!!!
We do ramp them as well, but the problem comes when we get a call that there is a 1900 on the runway with 2 skidded tires on one side.... they are quit difficult to ramp in that configuration!!!
And it seems there is aways a stiff cross wind when this happens, not ideal jacking conditions!!
I have found a used set, and compared to the cool $10K from RAPID, these are a deal, but they are still a couple grand more than the boss wants to pay....

Re: King Air Tools
Maybe I am uninformed but, if the tools are built to a standard I don't see any reason why that would be a problem. SMS or otherwise.
