Hey guys, I just joined this forum in hopes of getting more information and insight from the pilots here. I just did an introductory flight at Buttonville for $105 which was an absolute pleasure. I have talked with some people there who estimate the cost of getting a PPL was $10k and above. Is this the standard for getting the PPL? It's affordable, but I'm just wondering if theres a better place to go for someone who lives in the GTA. Thanks in advance.

Count on spending at least 10k - and don't count on getting it in the min 45 hours.
Around the GTA there's Buttonville, Brampton, Burlington, Waterloo and Brantford (depending which side of the GTA you're on), pay a visit to them and take a look around.
Also see the other thread on the same topic.

There's also the city airport with two flight schools there. Good if you want a lot of practice with ATC and dodging commercial flights.
