Post by THErampster »

just curious, what do corporate pilots/customers look for in their stops, and what keeps them coming back to certian fbo's.

The perks are always nice, but at the end of the day, if the service isn't good, I'd trade most perks for top notch service.

but in general, pilots look for perks ('cause we're cheap  ), customers(passengers) look for good service.

In most cases the company not the pilot would choose the FBO. Although fuel prices are a major factor they are certainly not the only factor. Speed, accuracy and a smile go a long way for me. I usually call ahead and give the FBO a heads up I'm coming in and will need fuel etc. If I pull in and the truck is waiting I know it'll be a good stop. If I ask for 5000lbs and thats what I get thats all good to. Its frustrating to land and wait for ever for someone to acknowledge you're even there (obviously if the ramp is packed you're not getting instant service) and then when you finally get fuel if the 5000lbs you ask for ends up being 5400lbs, that ticks me off too. Generally I'll tell dispatch if I get poor service and although I don't choose directly which FBO we go to, enough complaints from the pilots will result in a switch. There are more than a couple of places my company goes to where cheaper fuel is available next door but the service is so awful its not worth the savings to go there.

Service,Service,Service
-if its busy all I need to know is that you know I need fuel.
-clean washrooms (more then one is nice)
-computers two at least, newish ones, with up-to-date programs with a printer (i really hate having to use those old crappy navcan computers). WIFI should be in every FBO, no matter how big or small.
-nice chairs in a room away from the main entrance, more then two.
-if possible... somewhere to sit away from the TV.

Cheap gas, a/c on hot days, wifi and available crew cars. Proactive ground handlers ("Can I get you some ice and newspapers" without me having to repeatedly beg) are always welcome.

First and last, fuel price. If the fuel price is too high, it doesn't matter how good the service is, we aren't going there.

Once the fuel price is good then the choice goes to the fbo with the nicer facility, service, crew vehicle, & crew rooms.
