Getting the first jet Job... Corporate Operators Suggestions

Post by x15 »

Good afternoon everyone.

I am a happily employed King Air 200 FO that will be making my way through the ranks at my company over the next couple of years. I wanted to start looking into the next area of aviation I would like to explore. Corporate/execuative jets.

I am aware of places like Airsprint and Magna. But I was curious if anyone could point me in the direction of operators in Canada that do international flying with a Global or something like it, and fly it more than 200 hours a year.

I want to start learning about what I need to get into a spot like that now so that when I have the required MPIC and turbine time I can start applying to the people I really would like to work for.

It's all about connections. The amount of time you actually have is somewhat irrelevant once you reach a certain benchmark. Whether you you have 3000 hours or 4000 hours won't make a difference. If they want to hire you they will.

Also, if this is the way you want to go, keep in mind that corporate flight departments are the first to go during lean times.

I agree, its usually about who you know so keep in touch with all your pilot buds and when one of them lands a corporate position let him/her know you're interested in joining the team.

An addition to what has said already. Don't start calling your friends after not keeping in touch with them for 4 years just cause they land a corporate gig. This happened to a friend of mine who got on with WestJet. As soon as the news was there, people that hadn't talked to him for very long all of a sudden called him and asked if they could get a recommend from him.

Always keep in touch with the people!
