Morgan Air Flight School Closing Down?
I did my training there not to long ago. All their airplanes are listed for sale on Controller.com. Are they shutting down?

Re: Morgan Air Flight School Closing Down?
Probably because of the $60 landing fee and the new perminent NOTAM that grounds them during peak hours from 4pm - 9pm.
Re: Morgan Air Flight School Closing Down?
It's actually from 3pm to 8pm (DT 2100-0200Z). Anyway, I guess the $50 landing fee plus $2.89 fee per seat didn't discourage the training flights enough so they had to take more severe measures!FlaplessDork wrote:Probably because of the $60 landing fee and the new perminent NOTAM that grounds them during peak hours from 4pm - 9pm.

Re: Morgan Air Flight School Closing Down?
It would seem that the YYC airport has decided to force them out of YYC. Not that there is anything wrong with that, YYC as everyone knows who flys in our out on even a semi regular basis is a zoo. The number of times there are ground delays, flow control or you get a hold or crossing time restriction proves that Calgary has a serious capacity issue. Just like when YVR sent all the flight training to ZBB or YPK etc, so too is Calgary. Morgan Air has just decided to close up shop it would seem rather than move. It is a shame I did my instructor rating there and really enjoyed it.
Cheers,

Calgary has no capacity issues, come on guys! Springbank Airport has far more movements than Calgary. Look up the CADORs issued for the flight schools there, they are quite entertaining actually
. Calgary just has a bunch of grumpy controllers who whine about absolutely everything, thats why they are pushing the schools out of there, which makes sense having so many other alternatives in the area.

Its not the controllers, its the airport authority that wants them out.glorifieddriver wrote:Calgary has no capacity issues, come on guys! Springbank Airport has far more movements than Calgary. Same is happening with YHU, only there it's the people living around the airport who complain about the increased number of Cessnas doing circuits...FlaplessDork wrote:Its not the controllers, its the airport authority that wants them out.glorifieddriver wrote:Calgary has no capacity issues, come on guys! Thought I'd bump this thread now that morgan air has officially stated that they are closing their flight training doors at the end of the month. Thoughts?

It is sad. I too did both my training with them as well as start a few successful careers while I was working there.
Perhaps you could enlighten me with the source of your statistical information?glorifieddriver wrote:Calgary has no capacity issues, come on guys!
