Obama has the toughest job of all. He came to power wanting to change things to the left a little. Medicare, schooling improvements, etc...
He soon found out that he had no room for maneuver. The public finances left be Bush were so screwed up, that he cannot do anything to satisfy the ones that elected him.
Every one blames him for the war now. Even he, has no control over it. Everything was, and is still decided by various powerfull groups from the far right.
This presidency was a trap. There is no way he can get out of it smeeling good.
My only fear is that the Neocons succed in blaming him for everything, and win the next elections.
If they do, the US is doomed!

Oh man, I wanna rant on this, but I won't. There's no changing any beliefs around here so I don't see the point.

I'll just state my unchanging beliefs that to date there has NEVER been a true communist state- only authoritarian regimes that called themselves communist but weren't. Pure communism is democratic and lacks a hierarchical ruling class. That's MY brand of communism. I like to kick it old school. Of course it would take generations of evolution for us greedy apes to get there, but hey, you can always dream, right? That's what Marx was doing when he wrote the Manifesto. (I think.)

The problem I see with your "true communist state" is the lack of reward for work hard. If a worker puts forth the extra effort, he is not rewarded. Now, without rewards, you need another method to motivate workers. Historically that method was fear and violence.

How about for the betterment of the group? The Kibbutzim in Israel worked great until people got greedy.

Essentially what capitalists fear about socialism is other capitalists.

A socialist's motivation would be to work hard so that the whole can improve and their for everyone can get more together.

A capitalist's motivation would be to work less but to get the same as the rest, thereby maximizing the profit vs effort.

Righties have no problem berating lefties when they actually have money. I doubt they would be whistling the same tune if the house they paid for with hard earned, non government subsidized cash was foreclosed by a private investment firm who bought the collection rights from the municipally owned company whom they owed a small bill.
