Navajo Chieftain Hydraulic System Check
Can someone tell me the limits on the hydraulic pump check? As a pilot we are to check the pump by running one engine and placing the gear handle to the fully down position and wait for it to snap back into place. We check one when we start up, and the other on shutdown. Any time limits on this during an inspection? What if it doesn't snap in place, what would be some suspected problems?

You mean "time limits" in regards to how long it takes for it to pop back up after pressing it down? If it doesn't pop back up you likely have a worn out pump on whatever engine you are testing at the time....it's not building enough pressure.

Yes. Is it also possible that there was air in the line and and pumping the emergency/gear handle would remove it?Ballsssssss wrote:You mean "time limits" in regards to how long it takes for it to pop back up after pressing it down?
