Aires Colombia B737-700 'lands' short of runway . . .

Aircraft pieces' are located in the touch down area of runway 06 at San Andres Island, Columbia - aircraft was landing around 01:30 in darkness and violent weather. One passenger fatally injured, approx. 35 passenger injured. Crew of 6 uninjured, and approx. 125 passengers total on board.

No fire reported.

Aircraft is a 7 1/2 year old B737-700 registered HK-4682 of Aires Colombia.

Just checking google maps, San Andres Island is East of Nicaragua in the Carribean.

So now that more info is in, it seems the aircraft landed 260 feet short of the runway,
ripped the gear off, and slid the entire length of the runway, 7,400 feet!!!

I can't imagine the sound that must have made, never mind the sparks flying in the dark,
and the passengers sitting where the fuselage snapped!!!!!

Not often that you can put the airplane down on both sets of numbers...

sorry to hear there was a fatality

they must have been really cookin' along to slide that far!

Sorry - There is no way it went 7600 feet on it's belly and all the pieces came to rest like that in that good a shape. It would have cartwheeled all over the place.

This isn't US Marshals ya know!!
