WWFC offering Navajo training???

Post by Jiggly Bus »

I see Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre is now offering navajo/crm/703 'ground school' and then an option to do some training on a PA31-350 for $800/hr, this seems to be a partnership with a local charter company (seems like a good way for them to keep their planes flying more). This seems like a way to charge commercial students even more without adding much, if any value. It seems like a very small step away from selling PPC's, but without a ppc or pcc at the end.
I'm sure I'll get some flak for this because it says it's my first post but when I saw this at my old school I wanted to hear other people's opinions.

At least you get the plane though. Didn't Regency Express make you pay for the seat while the plane was working revenue flights?

Another attempt by a scummy flight school to suck in students paying outrageous amounts of money for so called "operational" flying. What part of this is operational if you pay $800/hr to fly around circles in a Navajo? Are they going to fly their clients from point A to B with someone sitting in the right seat? That WOULD be operational except some sucker sitting right seat is paying for it.......Scum!

It does seem like a cash grab. I don't know why anyone would pay for a PA31 PPC. On the other hand I suppose operators of Navajos that for whatever reason cannot do the training themselves for their pilots (ie time, availability, etc) may benefit from such a service (assuming the operator pays for the training). The question becomes is $800 an hour a reasonable rate for what you get. I think even if the quality of training is excellent $800 an hour is too steep. I don't think the level of service you would get from Flightpath would be worth $800. From what I've seen they can't even get organized enough to train their own pilots. Likely it is indeed a way for them to save money on FOs. I hope no one buys into this. :)

Do you even get a PPC ? It sounds like all they are selling is the Navajo "experience"

Does that experience include throwing bags of cancelled cheques, or trying to load the 'self loading' cargo of inebriated hunter-gatherers?

The best rate is getting the hours and training paid for--by the company you work for. They might even throw in a paycheque too!

Warning: Unfinished Joke Ahead. Make up your own ending:

So after a bus accident , this Lawyer, a Hooker, and a Flight School owner were waiting to get into heaven, and they started to talk about what they'd charged per hour when they were alive.....

The Lawyer says

" Well, I charged $200. per hour, and I got half my clients off "

The Hooker says

"Well, I charged $300 per hour , and I got most of my clients off '

The Flight School owner says

Well, I charged $800 an hour and...

Writers Block!!

Well, I charged $800 an hour , ....none of my clients finished-but I only gave two of them a venereal disease .

Well, I charged $800 an hour, but no one could get the plane off....the ground....cause it was soo full of kids trying to buy jobs.....not that having flown a navajo for the afternoon is going to help you any. If you really want to spend money....and make it usefull for your career....do some valuable cross country time....hop in a sim and hone your IFR skills....get an aerobat rating and HAVE SOME FUN
