96.9 in YYJ today, 98.9 in YVR over the weekend. If you don't like it, drive less, buy a more efficient car, get a diesel (and run it on BioD)take the bus or ride your bike.
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

ULTOR UN UMBRIS
As someone mentioned above, wait until Kyoto takes effect. That will add an easy nickel to the price of a litre.
Gasoline is processed from light crude oil. Most of Albertas oil is heavy crude, so is the middle east crude. We are running out of oil that is cheap to refine. Texas has most of the light oil in North America but that will only last twenty more years I think.
Oh. Add to the fact that China, every year, makes one million more cars than they made the previous year, we are in for a big suprise yet!! It's already becoming a problem with the US and China fighting over light crude for gasoline refining.
Right now, each north american, uses about twenty five times the fossil fuels per day (for electricity, driving, flying, industrial uses etc) compared to someone in China/India. Given they have two billion people combined, I think this is only the beginning of the rise in oil prices. Though, if their economies cool off, we'll see lower prices.
They want 120$/hr for a beat up 172 now. Yikes.

Canada produces enough oil, gas and natural gas to sustain ourselves without importing any at all. We supply the US with 15% of their needs, so we can't do that. China produces 3/4 of what they need and the US also puts a large part of their imported oil into their Strategic Reserves which stand at approximately 658 millions of barrels and they consume approximately 20 millions/day. Japan keeps a reserve of 321 millions of barrls; Germany 191 millions; South Korea 77 millions; France 71 millions. So everything being imported does not automatically get used. Add to all that the oil stock trading that goes on worldwide in a massive amount and you have another influence on the price of crude oil. That trading also influences the different currencies and again that effects the amount that the various countries have to pay for that crude. There's lots of "games" being played and facts that make up the whole picture of crude oil and natural gas prices.
For the Toronto/ area guys.
Adjust the time setting to 12 hours down the left side to get recent gas prices. 36 hours is useless.

Just callin it like it is.
"Games" folks..."games". The big push was on years ago about converting cars to burn natural gas because it was cheap and all the taxi drivers rushed out to get their vehciles converted......as did a lot of other drivers. The need for natural gas therfore took-off big time. Then the price started to increase and increase some more with the demand.... until now......don't waste your time converting to save gobs of money anymore. First you create a demand, then you service that demand, then you gradually increase the price for that demand until you reach the point where you can only now "play games", have gas wars, etc., etc. That's Rule #1 in the business world at any level.
