PD Recip JS
just a heads up in case you thought the line was just very busy today
If anyone needs to list on a PD flight today you may not be able to. Apparently their phone line is down and they don't know when and if it will get fixed. This is the only means of listing for us Recip JS folks.

I've tried a few times, I have to call 2-3 days in advance every day 6-8 times a day just to get a hold of them. Getting a bit ridiculous at Porter. They never answer their phones to book a JS. Not sure if they are short staff or something else but it doesn't seem fair.

my understanding is that they have a single phone in one of their offices that only gets answered if they aren't busy doing anything else

Sorry about your luck guys...yes it's a little ridiculous. I always thought the request should go through to ops (24/7)...in stead of the very time-limited position it goes to now. Maybe they can change that in future.
I might be using QK. Is it still just one JS open? I pay the taxes...but thought I heard grumblings of a change in policy where QK or AC has opened the plane WJ-style.

I don't use PD for my commute, but if I did I'd be quite upset by now, nearly a week later and you still can't list. Not very reciprocal to say the least. There has always been issues by the sound of things and now they aren't even answering the phone with some lame excuse that the line is down and they don't know when it will be fixed.
Odd the one line is down but not the rest, don't you think? If I were a pilot with porter who relies on the recip program, I'd be in the office turning the ringer on. It sounds to me like disgruntled office staff or your fearless leader is retaliating for the loss of his AC passes. If thats the case, he's taking it out on innocent bystanders and I really hope that's not the case...

Hey Matted have you e-mailed the jumpseat rep to see if they could look into it. They should have too answer to some questions or risk losing the recip program.

I would just call the call centre and ask them to do it. They all use the same computer software and are all in the same room together!! If they say otherwise, ask them to transfer you to the "Right Person".

Have your ALPA MEC kick them off your J/S agreement till the Porter pilots fix the problem!!! Total BS!

total BS is having to pay for a recip JS
i've spoken to my LEC JS Rep about a few issues and will let him deal with them accordingly
i would rather work with PD to find a solution before i wrote them off

Hope things change for the better here.
I know the Porter guys are also pissed off at the lousy response they get from these phone lines. At least they have the option of walking into the call center and sort it out.
It should not be like that, especially when other airlines offer them the simple solution of just walking up to the counter and getting on a flight on a seat available basis.
Maybe they could open the line 10 to 4 like they do now (but have someone who actually cares about picking up), and then again during the slow period of 9pm to 6 am through operations control, where there is manpower 24/7.
Just an idea.

PD OPS might be less likely to answer the phone for JS than the call center if there are IROPS.

took me over an hour to get through today
dialed the number continuously for the entire hour
it kept going directly to the recording until i finally got through
the poor girl that answers the phone is the only one that answers the phone for staff and the phone for OAL travel
any suggestions from the folks from PD as to how we can make some improvements?

This issue is currently being addressed by management. There should be a change coming soon as everyone at PD, including management, is in agreement that the present jumpseat booking system is not working. Not sure what the end result will be...

Our JS Rep advised us that PD informed him that this issue had been resolved. Since then, I have only needed to list myself once and only had to dial twice in 5 minutes in order to get through.
FYI, the line is only open M-F 1000 - 1600
