I spent some time searching on the site if anyone had posted anything similar... no dice, so here goes:
I'm ready to get my IFR rating and am currently shopping around for the best rate. According to the Toronto Airways website, one could expect the rating to cost about $8,000 (http://training.torontoairways.com/ft-p ... single.php).
I've done my multi, night, and PPL with Toronto Airways and have absolutely no issues with them.
I've since become more "cost conscious" and was curious to know if anyone could recommend doing a single-engine IFR training at a smaller airport which may have lower fees? Markham and Brampton come to mind.

Re: IFR Training near YKZ
Brampton doesn't seem that much cheaper than TAL.
What about hiring an instructor thats not affiliated with any school/club? Would that be cheaper?

Probably, if you own your own airplane anyway. Many flight schools frown on renting an airplane to a freelance instructor. I'm not even sure if TC would find that legal.bcrosby wrote:Would that be cheaper?
You've probably noticed by now, but flying is not for those with shallow pockets.
