It's getting really tiring looking at all the anti RCMP threads. So...
AMSTERDAM -- A drunk US pilot who was preparing a passenger jet for takeoff has been arrested and fined, Dutch police said yesterday.
They did not identify the pilot or his airline, but said he is a 52-year-old captain from Woodbury, NJ.
He does not fly for a Dutch airline, according to a police statement.
Authorities said they arrested the man in the cockpit of his plane after an anonymous tip.
A breath test found he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.023 percent, just above the legal limit in the Netherlands.
The flight was canceled.

Pilots aren't perfect. You can find screw ups in every profession.
Bottom line...Stop posting bullshit about the RCMP every single day. There's plenty of other stories online of pilots fucking up that can make us look just as bad.

Re: Amsterdam: Pilot attempts to fly plane drunk
Drunk?
The blood alcohol level was that of having a couple of beers.
Illegal, sure. And the guy was pretty stupid to be flying a jet after drinking, but to call a guy drunk after having a couple of beers is a bit misleading.
I'm thirsty now for some reason.

May be, but at altitude, he would have gotten drunk before sobering up. The effect is startling...istp wrote:Drunk?

In the states, where the beer is bad, students go to Denver, to get a high, before pissing themselves stupid...
Success in life is when the cognac that you drink is older than the women you drink it with.
Re: Amsterdam: Pilot attempts to fly plane drunk
This is very true. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend that any pilot who drinks occasionally have a couple of beers one afternoon and then have a fellow pilot (who hasn't been drinking...) take them for a flight. Apart from noticing how much more the alcohol affects you in general, it's a good opportunity to find an empty bit of airspace and seeing how hard it is to fly when you're drunk. You'd be surprised how hard it is to fly even a coordinated rate one turn without wild altitude variations.Expat wrote:May be, but at altitude, he would have gotten drunk before sobering up.
