Cost of O/H a Cont O-470S

What does it cost to completely overhauling the Continental O-470S (approximate cost is fine too)? Is there a recommended outfit in Western Canada that can do this? Time out of service, etc....

Try Stauffer Aero at YYC - if you give them a call they'll be happy to give you ballpark estimates. If you want a quality job, stick to the shops with a good reputation. You might get it done cheaper at your local guy-in-a-shed, but you'll probably end up needing another overhaul in a few years (or sooner). With engine overhauls, you definitely get what you pay for.

Do not forget that there will be significant labour and parts bill for the removal and reinstallation of the engine. I would add $5000 to the overhaul price for this.

I've reserched this very thing for a C-182.

I got prices from anywhere between $18,000 for a number of US based companies and up to $26,000 from some BC based companies. Depends on who you want to go with.
