More people flunking Canadian citizenship tests
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/arti ... ship-tests
Under the old citizenship test the failure rate was in the 4-8 % range. Under the new citizenship test, introduced this spring, the failure rate rose to 30%. OMG! What to do? What to do? You don’t need a Masters Degree in “Organizational Leadership” or graduate level in "Cognitive Studies" and "Psychology" to find the solution to “fail”. Let’s just make the test easier!!! Others might opine; the citizenship test is supposed to keep the dumb ones out of Canada. That argument my friends, is the difference between a nuts and bolts engineer and a social scientist.

Re: More people flunking Canadian citizenship tests
A mexican friend of mine was given the french version of the test and passed it despite not knowing french.
Granted there are a number of similarities between spanish and french but that is still ridiculous.

Follow the swiss! Make it as difficult as possible for the uneducated and unwilling to make this place their new home away from home. Maybe then we'd see less of a strain on many of the social assistance systems...
Immigration is there to help the country.. not hinder it.

Re: More people flunking Canadian citizenship tests
If a person can't be bothered to study enough to get 80% on a 20 question multiple choice test based on a 63 page book, they don't deserve citizenship.

Ya, they should just jump the border like they do here.

I do feel bad that I got the Sir Arthur William Currie question wrong. Considering YYC had a base named after him

90% on 10 questions.
I'm happy to see the change.

Re: More people flunking Canadian citizenship tests
I will say this:
I started off by doing the 5 questions at a time. Some of the questions repeated (and I was getting 100% - well they did make it easy) so I decided to take the full test.
I should mention that I was alone at the time and drinking the vino tinto so I consider 80% not too bad.
If my wife had been with me I would have scored better. She is a far better Canadian than me. Plus she was a Junior Liberal AND met Trudeau. Oh i am so jealous...

Re: More people flunking Canadian citizenship tests
88% on all the questions asked. Though apparently I don't know anything at the local level. Also they are fast at updating the test. Michelle Jean is not the GG any more and they have that changed already. I suppose it is bad I did not know who the new GG was.
Cheers,
