Hangar Talk Survey
Within the aviation industry, a pilot’s number of hours is used to measure his or her expertise. This may be an accurate method of quantifying hands-on piloting skills, but what about the complex thinking skills that are crucially important in the event of non-standard or emergency operations? ...
... To evaluate this issue, a research project is being conducted by Dr. Suzanne Kearns, of the University of Western Ontario, in partnership with Seneca College. The purpose of the research project is to collect several hundred examples of real-world scenarios that pilots have encountered during the course of their flying experience. This is being accomplished via an online survey available at: http://www.hangartalksurvey.com

Pretty current survey...
I submitted my experience about the one time I was driving a taxi between flying jobs. I followed my flight attendant girlfriend on a flight so we could talk about fixing things and going back to the way they were. Little did I know that more than half the passengers and all the flight deck crew would get food poisoning and I would be the only person on board who could land the plane. Despite my drinking problem and the frequent flashbacks of losing my squadron mates over Macho Grande, I persevered and landed that airplane. Made me the pilot I am today.Hangar Talk Survey 2010

I once had a runaway Hobbs meter in a rental. It was my most terrifying experience in an airplane, except for that one time at Band Camp when I got a paper cut on my tongue.
Honestly, I had no idea how I was going to come up with the $182,452.68 that I owed the flight school after I landed. I still have nightmares about it. I wake up, screaming at night, the bed sheets all wet, hearing Celine Dion singing in my head.
