NTD specialist?

Post by Gyroscopic »

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has all her weld inspection tickets and certification for most of the different types of NDT testing..

Was wondering if any of you know any companies who do NDT on aircraft and what requirements might be needed to be considered for hire??

thanks alot!

Not too sure where you're located, but in the Lower Mainland, there's a number of repair shops that use NDT specialists.

Vector Aerospace

A couple of things, coming from an aircraft NDT Tech. First of all, what "weld inspection" tickets do you have? Are they CGSB or ASTM? Maigasi, I used to work for Cougar, they are not in YYC and you certified through them? Appendix K trained? The problem with alot of industrial NDT people trying to make the switch to aviation is that they generally don't speak airplane, or the transport lingo. Pipeline weld inspecting and aviation NDT do not have alot in common. Your friend might be best off to apply to a company that does industrial and aircraft, that way she could be taught while still being able to use her current skills to make a living. A quick note, if her certs are ASTM they are of no use in Canadian aviation. Most require CGSB licenses or at least NAS 410. If you have questions PM me.

Cheers
