Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
I'm really looking forward to it. I hope it stays interesting, like the Deadliest Catch. Some other reality TV shows were interesting the first season, but the second year and beyond, it just wasn't as good.schleprock wrote:Season II starts Jan 12th at 8:00pm EST on History.
Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
And at some point that's a show but still true and I surely love it. Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers and Licenced to Drill are also part of it.
The Best safety device in any aircarft is a well-paid crew.

Their is an Alaskan version debuting on Discovery on the 14th as well. Flying Wild Alaska

I cannot vote because my only possible answer is not part of the choice.
It would be "My flatscreen HD tv is connected to a homemade rabbit ears antenna and I do not receive this show"

It would be "My flatscreen HD tv is connected to a homemade rabbit ears antenna and I do not receive this show"

Totally irresponsible, unnecessary, dangerous, immature and reprehensible. In other words brillant!

If they have the same deal on the website as the last season, you can catch all the episodes online...unlike that aviators show.
Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
Are they actually going to land on ice in this year's show or should the film crews have been following Canadian North 737s when they did many trips into an ice strip last year?
The show should be renamed, "The Fun and Follies of Pterodactyl Air"

Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
I watched one episode. The cargo manager girl was yelling at a C-46 captain telling him not to fly. Why the hell would that be any concern of hers? I have a pretty good idea what I would have told her if I was on the other end of that call.

Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
Uh, IIRC, she was telling him not to fly because those were Joe's orders.phillyfan wrote:I watched one episode. The cargo manager girl was yelling at a C-46 captain telling him not to fly. Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
Ya she called Joe to say the pilot could not fly because of a sore arm. Obviously Joe is losing his grip on Operational Control. Pilots are dealing with Cargo Agents when it comes to ops decisions. Why is the crew not calling the Ops Manager, Chief Pilot or there delegate.
Oh well I would imagine the show is on TV because it's a shitshow at Buffalo, A well run operation would make for boring TV.

Is this going to be an extension of "Sarah Palin's Alaska"?Nark wrote:Their is an Alaskan version debuting on Discovery on the 14th as well. Flying Wild Alaska

As AtlanticTour points out, some reality TV shows were interesting the first season (Nailin' Palin), but the second year and beyond (Sarah Palin's Alaska), it just isn't as good.

Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
I've watched Palin's Alaska for a few minutes. It's much better if you turn the volume off. No different from Ice Pilots.
Much like Ice pilots/truckers etc... It's a great venue to showcase what the country looks like outside of Toronto/Calgary/Vancouver to those who've never been.

Re: Ice Pilots NWT - Season II
I have never watched Ice Pilots for the following reasons:
I watched that r3tard3d show "The real house wives of Orange County" in disbelief. I watched a few times just so that I can be sure I'm hating those people for the right reason knowing that douche bags like that exist.
I watched Ice Road Truckers once. It drained my intellect. Letting us into their world did nothing for their cause. AND that includes the butchering of the English language. Finger nails on a chalk-board.
I won't even entertain the suggestion of even anyone mentioning to me in casual conversation "OHH...you don't watch that?!...what wrong with you?!" of that currupt show "Bachelor Pad" that every woman I know is glued to.
In fact I've yanked my cable out two years ago. I have a big screen TV that sits in the corner of my house and I don't know where the remote is. I don't watch TV except for sports, and the news...lately it's just been sports. That's it. I tell people I don't watch TV and you know what they say?
"PHUQUE YOOOOOU YOU WEIRDOH"
"why?"
I ask them. "JUST CUZ...if you had kids they'd grow up to be weirdoh's too" *that's actually hilarious to witness grown adults losing their collective shit on me because I questioned why they would allow their children to view 'anger and colours' blaring into their childs mind from sun up to sun down, and then wonder why their kids are detached and not a social creature with their peers*
If I would watch Ice Pilots and the film production drama I assume would have to be on the show just to keep the ratings up for low attention span population...like a driver on the road I don't have any respect for truck drivers being erratic on the road and won't let them merge last minute into my lane....inversely nor would a passenger traveling in airport would not hold any respect for a pilots profession if shows like these are allowed to be filmed. AND Bufafalo Bill AIN'T making a single dime off of the royalties...which now makes even makes less common sense why anyone would let people into your hangar. The excuse to "generate business"...it's a weak one compared to the risk of exposing some weaknesses of operating your business and the perception the non-informed masses get when viewing it on TV.
But who am I to judge. I'm just one person with a different drive in life...like getting off this computer now and enjoying the day

Once in a while I might pick up an episode of Anthony Bourdain, or a documentary (recently laid my hands on all 3 series of James Burke's Connections), but yeah the 1000 channels and there's nothing on ... TV has become a wasteland, or maybe it always was

"Top Gear" on BBC Canada is worth watching! Not much else though besides sports.
