Fort McMurray Airport Fee Increase

The fees are really going up in CYMM! Must fund the expansion! They're doing it by squeezing everyone dry. The nearly extinct General Aviation user group there is going to suffer severely. Some of the highlights include:

-minimum $25 landing fee (except for training and maintenance)
-major hike in aircraft parking fees
-fuel concession fee on all AVGAS purchased
-$30/head AIF for all commercial operators, charters and corporate aircraft effective March 1st
-if you want to park your car there in the winter with a plugin it will cost $30/day, 200/week, 750/month
-$4.16 per enplaned passenger for police/fire/security
-for every passenger, 50 cents will also be charged for using the baggage carousel

I can't find the link but there was an announcement in the last 2 months about the construction of a new terminal facility. It will be on the south side of the runway and will be equipped with new gates , bridges etc. Their reasoning is this has to be paid for somehow. They will be second only to YYC and YYZ I believe in the fees charged for passengers, AIF and landing.

They are goughing GA and users that don't even use the terminal, ever! Second to YYC and YYZ? Their AIF is much less at $20/head. Fort McMurray will be the highest AIF in the country that I know of!

Thanks for finding the links. I stand corrected. This sort of thing is why large companies build their own airports. The gouging and lack of service adds to the distance factor for anyone having to bus into YMM.
